3 different Tottenham teams in 6 days, same result.

Posted on September 24, 2013 by Eddie S

AVB has now been able to call upon the services of all his new players as three games, in three different competitions in six days has stretched his patience and the clubs playing resources. He has mixed every fit player at his disposal and has created a different team each time to take on the opposition they faced, with two of the three fixtures on opposition territory it could not have been easy.

What did the media have to say?

Tottenham stroll to Villa win

Spurs proved too classy for Aston Villa as they cruised to a 4-0 win to reach the fourth-round of the Capital One Cup.

In-form Tottenham hit four past Villa

At the end of a hectic schedule Tottenham have another three wins under their belt, eight goals plundered, zero goals conceded, three points in the group stage of the UEFA Cup, three points in the Premiership to go level at the top of the table and are through to the next round of the Capital One Cup.

Perhaps tonight at Villa Park was not the complete domination we have seen in other recent games but 4-0 away to a Premiership team is no mean feat. A few players managed to get a break from the action and travelling which will benefit them come Saturday against Chelsea.

There were a number of impressive performances once again, Paulinho demonstrated just how exceptional he is, not just his 3rd goal in six games but his overall work ethic and control. Sandro was his usual self, the boss off his domain, Holtby was perpetual motion and chipped in with two assists, Defoe scored his usual brace plus an assist. Kane and Fryers had some very good moments and both are developing well. Chiriches did reasonably well but is not quite up to speed, that will come with a couple more games under his belt.Erik Lamela just looks like he will be amazing, he seems to float around but when he is in that final third he just seems to find the right pass and movement.

All in all another great night and to go with a good win and equally as important, no additional injury problems that we are aware of.

6 to “3 different Tottenham teams in 6 days, same result.”

I thought Holtby was very good and thought he did more than just “chipped in” tonight, however a rare headed goal by JD to open the scoring was the result of an inspired chip in by Holtby.

How was that not a penalty when Jan practically tore the shorts off of Helenius? Hilarious..!

  2. Eric says:

We finally score from a corner

    • mick says:

It is strange but it’s never been in Spurs DNA.

      • eric says:

exactly we r getting penalties, scoring from corners n last minute n defending leads.I say its the AVB effect

        • mick says:

AVB is the Tottenham equivalent of wenger when he joined arsenal, a new breed and he is the one at the pinnacle.Levy needs to tie him down to longer contract and more dosh but expect it’s in hand. Chelsea have made the biggest mistake ever sacking him and it’s Spurs gain.
