A quiet day in Tottenham, the real North London club.

After the downs and ups of the past few days Tottenham supporters have had a little time to reflect on the transfer business done so far during this transfer window, all in all the overall picture is one of positivity, no twenty goal a season striker yet but we do have Gareth Bale and he is good for at least that many.

The signing of Paulinho seemed like an age ago now, has he yet joined up with squad for pre-season in Hong Kong? there have been no pictures yet. He brings with him the hope of a decent goal return from midfield, whilst we would love it if he could replicate the goalscoring impact of Frank Lampard the reality is we shall not see his like again for many a year, ten or more goals would be perfectly adequate in all honesty as we also expect his presence to release Moussa Dembele’s attacking instincts and we probably expect a better return from him this season, he certainly has the quality to be scoring close to double figures.

Nacer Chadli is a really interesting addition, a 6’2″ flying winger with a goal return of one in three in his three years with FC Twente. Along with Sigurdsson and Dempsey AVB is putting together a group of midfielders and forwards who seem to complement one another in the quest for more goals this coming season. Part of the problem of the last few season has been a shortage of goals resulting in too many close games for comfort, the goal difference has remained inferior to the established four and certainly needed addressing. Defoe will always be good for a dozen or more even with fewer starts while Adebayor has never struck me as a natural but is certainly better than the five he achieved last season.

I think I speak for every Tottenham supporter by saying we would prefer that the new man be ready and in tune with the squad by the time the first fixture comes around, but if we have to wait a little longer, then so be it, the squad is more able and rounded enough to start the season with a flourish. One man needed but ready to start without him if the need arises.

If Soldado does sign like what you’ve reported, then we’re assembling one of the strongest squad in the premier league next season.. We should be right up there with the big 4, possibly even knocking one of them off the podium.. This has got to be the most anticipated season for me in my 16 years as a Spurs fan..

Anyway, I was looking at some Belgium matches.. The likes of Chadli and Dembele going forward and grabbing goals was just tantalizing.. The likes of Paulinho and Sandro should push the 2 of them + Bale forward.. And hopefully with Soldado up front we’ll be getting a great goal returns.. And not forgetting the odd goals from Vertonghen and Kaboul.. Feels great to be a Spurs fan these days.. Lol..

With the addition of soldado and chadli its not difficult to see an extra 20goals or so.the big push is on .big year ahead and AVB to make his mark.
