Anzhi preview and team prediction.

Posted on December 12, 2013 by Scraggs

Both teams have already qualified, even their position in the group is already decided and so this is a totally inconsequential fixture and a game that neither team particularly wants at this point. Tottenham have picked up a couple of injuries in recent matches and so their central defensive options need to be carefully protected with some important fixtures on the horizon.

Home advantage and a superior squad points to a Tottenham victory but expect another big turnover of players following the last outing at Sunderland. Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen are both available following their recent injury problems but whilst both will probably feature at some stage I would guess that only Eriksen might start on this occasion. Apparently a few youngsters have been called up and one or two should get their chance in front of home support and in a fixture that has absolutely nothing resting on it.v Anzhi

It is hard enough to try to choose AVB’s team when points are at stake or progression in a cup competition but this is something new, he will wish to continue to use his squad but while he has plenty of midfield and offensive options at this time there are issues at the back to be considered, AVB trusts his players and seems to have complete faith in their ability to do the job and we should expect nothing less on this occasion.

    Good team, I’ll take that.

Odd having a game midway through the season that’s absolutely inconsequential. It will be good to check up on some rusty players’ form and see how motivated some players are by seeing how hard they work in unfamiliar roles.

We are going to need Friedel’s wealth of experience to step up and really marshall that back line.

  3. Boobaspur says:

Being only 1 of 2 teams (out of the 48) with a 5 out of 5, 100% win rate so far – it would be nice to win this “meaningless” match and achieve 6 wins out of 6 in this group stage.

  4. Boobaspur says:

Fantastic Soldado – must be looking at a hat-trick tonight
