Arsenal supporters set to cheer on Tottenham.

Posted on March 04, 2013 by Tony

As things stand Arsenal staff, players and supporters are distraught following yesterdays result, try as they might to convince themselves otherwise they will in due course realise that they were in fact a well beaten side.

Once they have collected themselves they will see that all is not yet lost, as things stand Chelsea are their nearest target to secure Champions League football being just 5 points ahead of them. Chelsea are hardly sweeping all before them as they are as inconsistent as Arsenal, and with Benitez at the helm and the general turmoil that exists at the club things could change quickly.

Tottenham travel to Stamford Bridge early next month and if the table remains as it does now you can be sure that Arsenal will be willing their neighbours and most despised rivals to beat Chelsea.

Do Tottenham supporters actually have a preferance as to which rival fails to attain top four status, probably not, Arsenal are unlikely to be a cause for concern any time soon, it is already eight years since they actually won a trophy and they are probably half a dozen players short of challenging now. As for Chelsea, whilst it would be sweet revenge for last years events it would also be about the reaction of the owner if they failed, would he lose interest and walk away or simply up the ante and spend ever more money to regain success, will failure affect their plans for appointing a new coach, would the likes of Mourinho or Conte of Juventus take the job without Champions League football?

It could still all go pear shaped as we know but what will be will be, let’s just enjoy the moment while we can and milk it for all we’re worth.
