AVB is going for shock and awe next season.

Posted on August 10, 2013 by Scraggs

With the news that the Capoue deal is all but completed and might hopefully be announced during today’s friendly against Espanyol, AVB is continuing to build a squad of immense strength and pace. every player brought in so far is six foot plus, every one of them is quick and capable of bringing goals to the party, even Capoue who is predominantly a defensive midfielder managed seven goals and a few assists last season.

At the moment it seems almost certain that Tom Huddlestone will soon be off, a great shame as so much was once expected of one of the most technically gifted players in English football, when he leaves Tottenham will lose a player with amazing passing ability but also a player lacking pace and mobility. Scott Parker is another probably heading for the door marked exit and Tottenham will be losing an ageing warrior who has been good for the team but is sadly of an age when the dynamics of the team under AVB is probably too much for him, when he replaced Sandro last season the team had to adapt to a slower momentum, while he was still just as adept at winning back possession the speed of attack did slow when he was on the ball.

Whether or not Gareth Bale stays or leaves we can probably rest assured that be it him or his replacement AVB will have another player to call on of strength and speed, he is assembling a squad with a much reduced average age as he sets about really making his mark in English football. His first full season in coaching which began just three years ago resulted in four trophies at the end of that season, since then he has had a tough period with Chelsea, and the players who refused to adapt to his methods, followed by an “almost” great season with Tottenham .

AVB has obviously discovered that the English Premier League is a tough tournament and an endurance test, as well as the other three cup competitions to navigate he now knows full well that every league fixture involves a battle and that there are no easy games. With this in mind Tottenham have begun the process of putting together a squad that will more than match every team they face from a physical aspect, nobody last season managed to intimidate the team but still they have gone out and bought more warriors and they are bigger, quicker and better than many of last seasons squad, more importantly they seem to be players willing to make a far bigger impression in front of goal and in the opposition penalty box, every player purchased has a fantastic goalscoring record relative to their job in the team.

It seems that in any given fixture AVB will be able to choose a team capable of dominating the opposition with their speed and power just as much as their quality, no longer will anybody be able to level the accusation that Tottenham are southern softies as AVB will be going for “shock and awe” tactics when the need arises.
