Bale staying but could Wilshere be heading to Bayern?

Posted on May 13, 2013 by Guest Writer

As the days and weeks go by it seems increasingly certain that Gareth Bale will be staying with Tottenham for next season, he has been voted the best player in the Premiership by a country mile and has become one of the most sought after players on the planet. Daniel Levy looks like giving him yet another huge payrise and Bale will in turn sign an extension to his contract, all of that is irrespective of where Tottenham finish in the league and puts paid to the garbage written that he must leave to better himself! how can you better a season like that?

The next step on the ladder for Gareth Bale and for Tottenham and every member of the squad is to turn a very good squad into a winning squad, AVB has proven himself and now Daniel Levy and Tottenham will unleash the cash to enable him to take them to the next level.

Over in another part of North London the team in pole position to finish fourth has seen added pressure to go on and enter the Champions League next season with the news that Guardiola and Bayern Munich have turned their attention to trying to buy Jack Wilshere from Arsenal. He has not had the best of times this season due to serious injury but is clearly the one Arsenal player of sufficient quality to make a difference and might be wanted by any of the top clubs.

Wilshere has spoken of his allegiance to the club many times but he has seen so many of his teammates leave and go on to win trophies, players like Van Persie, Clichy, Song, Fabregas and Nasri in the past couple of seasons alone ( not many defenders or keepers, strange!) and should they also fail in their top four pursuit what might his mindset then be?

These days Arsenal are unable to attract the top players, when once they might have been considered as one of the big attractions and could go after the very best they are now second to Tottenham in North London, Holtby and Vertonghen made their choice and plumped for a team on the rise rather than in decline.

Arsenal might well have the reported £70m to spend in the transfer market this coming summer window but just who will they sign? certainly they will need Champions League football to attract star players but they need  more than one or two if they are to win trophies again. Wilshere and Cazorla are their only current players worthy of note and unless Wenger has a couple of secret diamonds that he is hoping to buy as he once did with a few French stars, then they will continue to move further away from the top clubs.

Arsenal need Champions League football and to retain Jack Wilshere as failure in either objective could prove disastrous for them.
