Cardiff v Tottenham Preview.

Posted on September 21, 2013 by Tony

For the first time since 13th January 1962 Tottenham travel to Cardiff for a league fixture in the top division and on that day it ended in a 1-1 draw, the scorer of the goal being the captain and man of steel Dave Mackay. There have been a few FA Cup games since and the two teams met in the second division in the 1977/78 season. Take a look at the Tottenham team on that last occasion, at the team Tottenham were the reigning Champions and had won the League and Cup double the previous year for the first time in that century

Starting lineup:

Tomorrow Tottenham face a newly promoted Cardiff as yet undefeated at home and having beaten Manchester City and held Everton on their patch this season. Tottenham go into the game on a high and with the prospect of heading the table with a win but AVB will have to tread carefully with his team having played a European fixture just a few days earlier and with a cup game away to Villa to follow on Tuesday.

Tottenham have a few injury problems to contend with but remain spoilt for choice, it is not known yet whether there will be a couple of enforced changes because of injury as well as rotational changes. Chiriches is available for consideration after his work permit finally arrived, he will probably take the place of Kaboul on the bench for this one rather than risk aggravating the injury that forced his early retirement from the action on Thursday.
Cardiff keeper David Marshall has recovered from injury as well as our old favourite Craig Bellamy.
Seven games played and just the one goal conceded, will the Tottenham defence be able to maintain that impressive record or will Cardiff manage to breach that miserly defence at any point?
Cardiff are one of the few clubs yet to score in the first half this season and are also key exponents of the long ball game so far, something to watch for.

Doesn the champions league music on a wednesday night just send shivers down your spine ……oh wait

It does can’t wait to experience it next season. You gooners had better record it before Xmas as it might be the last time you hear it at the library for some years. Spurs will show you how it’s done, in it twice and reached semi’s and quarters, no big deal.

you gooners have got to be in a real panic realising that it’s too late to stop Spurs finishing in front of you and likely to win a trophy. Hope wenger wins his new contract soon as he takes the club in the right direction, backwards.
