Is it time for Pochettino to add to his squad? 0

Posted on January 15, 2017 by Scraggs

Coming up to the midway point in the transfer window the question frequently asked by most Spurs supporters and the general media outlets is whether should Pochettino look to bolster his squad this month. There is little doubt that the current squad is strong and that there is a very strong nucleus of players that he has to choose from, the Spurs manager already has the players to more than match almost any team, but there are currently a couple of probable weaknesses should injuries strike.

Townsend exit approaches as replacement targeted. 0

It seems increasingly likely that Andros Townsend will shortly be leaving for a significant transfer fee of in the region of £12-£14m if reports are to be believed. Newcastle seems to be the most likely destination with Ashley suddenly agreeing to splash the cash in an attempt to ensure continued premiership survival. Though Townsend is not every Spurs fans cup of tea there is no doubting that for a short time he was producing some excellent stuff for both club, and especially country, that form seemingly curtailed by an unfortunate injury at an important moment in his career.

The top 6 plus Chelsea & the January transfer window 3

We are close to that time of year when the transfer window re-opens for the month of January and clubs have a final chance to strengthen their squads for the challenges ahead, this one promises to be a bit special with the usual suspects with money to burn finding themselves not quite so attractive from a playing point of view, with the money on offer being the major motivation rather than the promise of silverware.

Tottenham striker deal reportedly agreed. 0

Though nothing official has yet been announced reports emanating from Spain and confirmed by the Metro seem to suggest that Tottenham have all but secured a deal for one of the stars of the Nigerian U17 team Victor Osimhen. At the recent U17 World Cup he was the tournaments top goalscorer with ten goals in seven games enabling his country to win the title.

Below is a video of the goals he scored which seem to suggest the tall, gangly, powerful frontman knows the way to goal and has a prescence about him. Not short on skill and pace he plundered all manner of goals along the route to winning the trophy and does seem a fine prospect for the future if progression can be maintained.

It has to be Berahino. 0

There is little doubt that Tottenham need to add another attacker to the equation before the transfer window slams shut this summer, there have been links to players in the French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, German and  even the Belgian leagues but since a tentative link to Danny Ings, before he plumped for Liverpool and a passing, very unlikely, interest in Christian Benteke there has been no link to any forward currently plying their trade in the premiership.

Window open-what do the top 6 need? 12

We have been away for some time but have continued to be amused by all the transfer speculation surrounding the top clubs and today we begin the JTN comeback.

With the opening of the transfer window proper on the first of the current month we might at last see some real business done as clubs begin to put together their squad in time for this seasons early premiership schedule. While the usual culprits are linked with deals involving quite ridiculous sums some will be going about sensible squad building and value for money additions.

Tottenham transfer rumours laid bare. 6

With an important transfer window fast approaching clearly work has been going on for sometime by those charged with identifying and securing the services of players needed to put more points on the board in the coming season. Mauricio Pochettino has already given clues as to the clubs intentions, he said that they need to strike early in the market and to be creative, he also would prefer  to bring in players with premiership experience though not entirely true with it almost certain that Kevin Wimmer an Austrian international playing in Germany seems to be a signing as close to completion as is possible at this stage.

With just four games remaining players and fans of Tottenham know full well that the club is once again going to fall short of a Champions League spot, many will be suggesting that they prefer no involvement in Europe if it’s not the main event. Some pundits have openly stated that no games on a Thursday night will help them achieve top four status as it has undoubtedly for Manchester United who have crawled over the line on the back of much luck and more than just a few fortunate results.

Sentimentality holding Tottenham back! 0

It is probably fair to say that a huge number of Tottenham supporters were disappointed with the clubs dealings in the recently ended transfer market, strange when you consider that they were soon moaning about too many signings during the summer of 2013. Even the fact that the six signings that were made were all sensible and to areas of the team where it was most needed once the window closed the knives came out for Levy and Baldini rather than Pochettino.

Tottenham take the sensible approach. 10

When I look at this transfer window from a Tottenham supporters perspective of course I can see just why many of them feel a little aggrieved, based upon our performances of last season we were as a team poor in front of goal but we operated in a totally different system with AVB who preferred the inverted wingbacks while Tim Sherwood stuck by the old 4 4 2. It seems that Sunday’s result rendered all the good work of the earlier games redundant and forgotten, it was not a good performance but coming so early into the philosophy of Pochettino was it so unexpected and what bearing did it or could it have on a transfer window about to close?
