FA Cup predictions.

Posted on February 16, 2014 by Eddie S

Another week and yet another disastrous set of predictions, it doesn’t seem to matter what the competition at the moment, results and performances are incredibly difficult to get right and to be fair I was in the company of most other “experts”. It seemed that only the City v Chelsea tie was in dispute and most pundits probably went with their bias rather than anything else. So it’s on to today’s games and once again there will likely be a surprise.

  • Everton v Swansea 13:30
  • Roberto Martinez is of course the last manager to win the trophy when he led Wigan to an unlikely triumph last season, so he knows what it takes and is in a great position to with home advantage to progress further again. Swansea have stopped the rot since sacking Laudrup and won four points from their last two premier league matches, both away, they will attempt to dominate possession and outpass Everton all over the pitch. If the FA Cup draw is good to Everton I fancy them to to lift the trophy in May. Home win 2-0.
  • Sheff Utd v Nottm Forest 15:00
  • A decent lower league game and one that will probably be exciting as both clubs will be keen to experience the glory of what was always our favourite domestic competition. United are deep in relegation trouble in Division One while Forest are in the playoff places in the Championship and just six points from the automatic promotion spot. Nigel Clough is the the man in charge at United and will renew the family association with Forest in the form of trying to eliminate them from the competition. Replay after 2-2 Draw.
  • Arsenal v Liverpool16:00
  • Just a week after that thumping at Anfield Arsenal get an immediate opportunity to set the record straight and appease their own supporters reeling from that result and a poor no score draw with united in midweek. Liverpool will believe that they have an enormous advantage over the opposition but though they won in midweek at Fulham the performance on their travels was not at the level many expected. Wenger will make tactical and personnel changes while it remains to be seen whether Liverpool actually take the tie seriously with much bigger fish to fry, top four or maybe even more! Draw 1-1.
