Fluent,Flowing, Powerful Tottenham performance.

If there was a negative to last nights game it could only have been Harry Kane’s header hitting the post and bouncing into the arms of the opposition keeper. We all know that the opposition was not of the highest standard but they are the Champions of their country and only lost 2 points on their ground last season, Tottenham and other big teams have been made to struggle in fixtures such as this before now and will do again.

This was a thoroughly professional performance and every player that took to the field put in impressive performances.
Hugo Lloris- had little to do until the final ten minutes or so but he looked sharp when called upon and is now totally up to speed.
Kyle Naughton-totally comfortable in the right back spot and immediately built an understanding with Townsend, Paulinho and Dawson the players operating nearest to him.
Michael Dawson-am I going mad or is he actually getting better? Even made breaks from the back with the ball “a la Vertonghen”.
Younes Kaboul-operating slightly out of position as he prefers the right hand channel but was strong, quick and impressive and a real bonus now he is back. Captain for the night and deservedly so, could well be Tottenham’s signing of the season.
Danny Rose-probably the most overworked player defensively as all the oppositions danger came down his flank but he coped well, on the odd occasion he was caught out his tremendous speed, an asset, came to the rescue, excellent going forward and even found time to score the goal of the night, does he score a bad goal?
Etienne Capoue-one word, immense, his full debut and another great performance, he really is another in the mould of Sandro and I am looking forward to seeing them together at times forming a barricade to the back four. Comfortable on the ball and another great signing.
Andros Townsend-they talk of players taking their chance to impress and he certainly did with a MOTM performance, great goal and two assists, ninety minutes of torment for the oppositions left back.
Paulinho-off the mark with a trademark goal and a performance of quality to go with it, always available and seemed to pop up all over the pitch. Always a threat and clearly going to be a major force.
Roberto Soldado-worked tirelessly and just when it seemed it would be just a team performance and little else he popped up with two top quality finishes, that’s three in two games and a clear indication that he is probably the best poacher and natural finisher Tottenham have had since the days of Gary Lineker.
Moussa Dembele-does he ever stop running? His involvement in every game is immense, started the game in behind Soldado but probably is a position a little too restrictive for him as his strength is to burst from deeper areas past players, absolute class and as soon as he starts shooting on a more regular basis goals will flow.
Sigurdsson-back out on the left so as to cut in and present a goal threat, probably to allow a little experimentation with dembele more advanced and to keep Sigurdsson up to speed in the position which he was threatening from last season.
Nacer Chadli-he was introduced for Sigurdsson early in the second half and was a constant threat setting up danny Rose and then producing a fantastic unplayable ball for Soldado to score his second goal. Almost set up Harry Kane with another great cross for him to head against the post.
Tom Carroll-another opportunity to gain some experience, he is incredibly industrious and snaps away all over the pitch, tidy on the ball as always and lots more to come from him.
Clinical, comfortable and classy performance that enabled AVB to start rotating his squad and blood some of the youngsters.
It’s still early days and with so many new additions and more to follow it is going to take time for the team to truly gel, last night was a very good step forward.
