Gareth Bale wins 4th award yetTottenham are holding him back?

Posted on May 17, 2013 by Scraggs

Gareth Bale has now won his fourth honour of the season having now won the Barclays Player of the Season Award and so break the Manchester monopoly of the past six years. He is the first Welsh and Tottenham winner and joins some of the greats such as Shearer, Henri, Owen, Viera and Ronaldo who have won this honour in the past.

There will be many quick to state that he has won nothing as a team member at Tottenham and that would be true but his ability and improvement as a player is growing at a phenomenal rate and along the same lines as only a few special players like Ronaldo. United won the title and Chelsea pulled off a last ditch win in the competition that was last on their list or more like not even thought of when they set targets for the season. Other Champions League players at City won nothing at all and Arsenal complete an eighth season with no team or individual trophies or awards.

Whatever happens come Sunday Gareth Bale has had a wonderful season as a Tottenham player, he has not been held back but granted he has won nothing, similar to United and Arsenal players last season yet nobody suggested that the likes of Wilshere, Cleverley, Jones or Walcott should look for a new club to progress. Gareth Bale is doing just fine and he and everyone associated with Tottenham believe that success is just around the corner. Perhaps missing out on the Champions League for another season is no bad thing and will enable them to achieve domestically next season before embarking on another European adventure.

AVB has mentioned in a recent press meeting that he is not sure whether Gareth Bale has yet signed a new contract which implies that a new contract has been negotiated and just needs him to sign on the dotted line.
