Hansen blasts:’Struggling’ boss has wasted £100m and is facing the sack.

Posted on December 03, 2013 by Scraggs

When I first read this headline today I immediately thought that Hansen was actually talking about the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, he arrived at Liverpool at the same time as AVB was appointed at Tottenham and has also spent close to £100m in the transfer market, in the case of Liverpool of course their transfer activity has resulted in a net loss of £56m against a profit of close to £5m for Tottenham.

When it comes to waste I would argue that Liverpool and Rodgers have been found wanting in that too many of their dealings have failed in fact seven of his twelve purchases have hardly featured for Liverpool this season, two have been loaned out and the most expensive of the lot Joe Allen has started just one league fixture.

With just a three point lead over Tottenham at this stage Liverpool, Rodgers and Hansen would be better served taken care of their own problems, far from being title challengers it seems clear that perhaps the team on the red side of Liverpool are still not the masters of their own city let alone top four challengers.

As AVB takes on the media so Alan Hansen in his column for the Telegraph twists the knife and continues the media assault, when as an ex professional you might believe that he would defend the position of a thoroughly decent person involved in the game that made him wealthy and a household name.

Some publications have picked up on the comment by Sam Allardyce that  AVB should ignore the media and get on with his job suggesting that he cannot win. One publication had this to say “To be side-tracked by a few journalists when you have such a big club to run seems very petty indeed. The great managers through history couldn’t give a monkeys about what the press have to say.” What absolute rubbish, Sir Alex Ferguson took on the” beeb ” and refused to attend press conferences. Remember this from the Independent it was written on the 6/09/2007

“Sir Alex Ferguson has launched an astonishing attack on the BBC, saying that the national broadcaster is “arrogant beyond belief”, has an “inability to apologise”, and does not care about being sued “because they are so huge and have insurance.” The Manchester United manager has also reiterated his stance that he will never speak to the corporation again.

    • Ferguson is not the only football manager who now refuses to talk to the BBC. Newcastle’s Sam Allardyce and Portsmouth’s Harry Redknapp have both declined to be interviewed by the broadcaster since last year’s Panorama investigation into alleged malpractice in football transfers. The pair both featured in that programme but have never been accused of any rule infringement or faced charges for any wrongdoing.” Whoa is that the same Sam Allardyce who has taunted AVB, the word hypocrite comes to mind.
    • Arsene Wenger loses his temper in press interview ahead of clash with Bayern Munich or how about another
    • The 63 year old Frenchman first rubbished talks of him getting a new contract already & then lashed out at a journalist who kept referring to the FA Cup game instead of the UCL game before making a (false) claim that he’s the manager with the most number of FA Cups.
    • Next it is Mourinho on the 30 Sep 2013 – The Chelsea boss is sick of everyone asking him about the players he leaves out of his team.

the list is endless and so the truth proves that AVB is still the subject of a witch hunt, quite why I am not sure but considering it is coming from the press and many professionals and ex-professionals I can only summise it is because he never played the game professionally and is simply a professional coach.

Recent reports say we are 6th in terms of revenue but have finished above pool in recent years and have made a net profit in the last 3 transfer Windows inspite of getting some spectacular player. The hatred most sections have against us is just pure jealously which we should laughingly avoid

    • Tony says:

Not only are we outperforming liverpool but pinching some of the players they wanted. Now Aldridge is imploring them to buy Dembele and I think we all know that’s never going to happen. I think there is some truth to the point made by our writer that AVB never played the game, he is a bit of a rarity in that respect as a top coach.

It makes me laugh now they are all saying don’t pick a fight with the media and wenger comes out and has a go at the pundits. more double standards.
