How will AVB use his squad against Norwich?

Posted on September 12, 2013 by Tony

At long last Saturday will see the return to the serious business of winning Premier League points and Norwich are the team visiting White Hart Lane, with only Etienne Capoue currently injured and unavailable AVB is spoilt for choice both in terms of personnel and formation that he wishes to utilise with the different abilities of the players he has in his squad. Many have had strenuous games for their countries over the past five days with plenty of training and travelling so they will need to be assessed.

Irrespective of the Lloris mistakes whilst on international duty he is nailed on to start on Saturday having started the season for his club in superb fashion, Lloris has proven himself to be the complete keeper and quite unique behind a higline defensive strategy.

The two fullbacks are certainties for the league fixture although one will be expected to get a rest come Thursday in Europe, so Walker and Rose will retain their positions. Kyle Walker will be happy to get back into the swing of things after having endured a week of adverse criticism, the laughing gas episode was simply a foolish decision for a professional sportsman perhaps that has been blown out of all proportion, how the likes of Redknapp has the nerve to suggest that he should have had the book thrown at him is both crazy because he has done nothing illegal and the media have used words like “hippy crack” to sensationalise the situation, it’s simply laughing gas, legal and not harmful unless massively abused. He did not have a great opening fifteen minutes for England but still played his part in keeping a clean sheet having been pitted against their most impressive player. Quite why he took so much stick is hard to comprehend as he also had the fullback to contend with as Walcott gave him little assistance.

The two central defenders will hopefully see the partnership of Kaboul and Vertonghen take it’s first steps leaving Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches to take to the field on Thursday. Both pairings should work well with the added bonus of Vertonghen being able to move across to left back in case of need.

The difficult decisions probably revolve around the offensive side of the game as Sandro looks set to resume as the defensive shield of the team, the option then will be the formation that AVB uses, does he return to 4 2 3 1 and the Sandro/ Dembele partnership or will it be 4-3-3 or 4-1 4-1, he is spoilt for choice. My guess is that he is keen to pitch Eriksen and Lamela into the action and so will go with a 4 -3 -3 and so the midfield three will consist of Sandro, Paulinho and Eriksen, with Lamela, Soldado and Chadli ahead of them, some might be surprised that Chadli could be retained as he has not looked that impressive in the league but his passing success rate is 86% and he has created 9 chances, 5th in the ratings and just 1 chance behind the four ahead of him including Eden Hazard.

So our team for Saturday in a 4-3-3 formation is Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose, Paulinho, Sandro, Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado and Chadli.

ur doing a great job with this site. Its new so fans will be slow to respond to articles but don’t lose heart, with time it will be a success. With the new signings n bale saga our club seems to have been given a global exposure so m sure our fan base will continue to grow.I’ve also noticed that we have a lot of gunners here who keep hating or criticising. My only advice would be not to pay heed or respond, just ignore cause ur response only makes them stronger
