Inter will fail with £1m bid for Holtby.

Posted on September 16, 2013 by Random Spurs Supporter

The Daily Star carries a story that Inter Milan are hoping to take Lewis Holtby from Tottenham for a cut price £1m this winter, can you believe that price? Have they not heard of Daniel Levy? Tottenham apparently paid about £1.5m for Holtby a little over seven months ago but Milan believe that he has struggled for a great deal of playing time this season and that, they say, is the opportunity they are seeking to sign him.

Unless anybody else believes that Holtby is surplus to requirements let it be known that as a result of the International U21 tournament, during the summer, he was injured and missed almost all of the preseason work, he is now working his way back to fitness and has featured for the team in both the league, as a substitute, and as a starter in Europe when he scored a superb long range goal, his first for the club.

Holtby has already said that he is more than happy to fight for a place in the team and that he is up for the challenge, he seems to understand the need for a big squad and really does seem content for the moment. Being just 22 yrs of age just why Tottenham and AVB would jettison a work in progress quite yet seems implausible. as Danny Rose recently said, the season has only just begun and already Tottenham have had half a dozen games to deal with, along with the UEFA Cup proper starting this week and the Capital One Cup next Tuesday, that will be three games in just six days and if the season progresses as AVB and the club hope it will then sixty games this season is more than feasible.

In each of the past two seasons Tottenham have found themselves short in numbers going into the final stages and they have now put themselves in a position for it not to happen again, from a financial point of view there is absolutely no need to raise money or reduce the wage bill so what would be the point if the player himself is content.

Tottenham have still to see the very best of Lewis Holtby  believing there is much more to come from him and that AVB will get the best from him, it seems that he and Eriksen will now be the two players for the playmaker role although Holtby also helps out in any position asked of him. Holtby still remains a game changer as he was when introduced against Manchester City toward the end of the season when the team was 1-0 down. He seems set to remain an important part of the squad, especially with a fee of just £1m on the table.
