Is Lennon’s position at risk at Tottenham?

Posted on September 18, 2013 by Guest Writer

Even though the transfer window is now firmly shut until January it hasn’t stopped rumours flying about regarding a couple of Tottenham players. Lewis Holtby has been the subject of much speculation for more than a few days even though he has openly stated that he is happy to be a part of a big squad with immense quality and will fight for the right to play. Just why articles persist that Inter Milan are hoping to secure his services with a cheeky bid of £1m is beyond ridiculous, this is Tottenham and unless I missed something Daniel Levy still calls the shots and sets the price, £1m just doesn’t come anywhere near to cutting it.

Jermain Defoe, Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane have all been linked with a move, a couple of them to a Championship side, no prizes for guessing it would be

QPR and Harry Redknapp, Tottenham have for the first time in a couple of years actually got the four strikers needed for a top side, it is conceivable that one might be sacrificed as unnecessary in AVB’s system and because of Lamela and his goalscoring tendencies but while Tottenham remain in the Capital One Cup and until the Adebayor situation

becomes clearer is anything likely to happen? Harry Kane might well benefit from a season with Tom Carroll at Harry Redknapp’s QPR and is a loan that might yet happen.

The rumour doing the rounds today is of Newcastle interest in Aaron Lennon, can you believe he is still only 26 yrs of age? he seems to have been in the Tottenham first team for ever. His contract doesn’t expire until 2016 so no need for Tottenham to worry about his situation just yet. When fit Martin Jol, Ramos, Redknapp and AVB almost always chose Aaron Lennon in their starting eleven but has his injury come at a bad time for him?

With the influx of players this summer and in particular Erik Lamela, who seems to favour the right, and Chadli who favours the left flank, Lennon might find himself spending a little more time on the bench than he would have hoped, the situation is made worse for him by the form of Andros Townsend who has really stepped up to the plate following the injury Lennon suffered so early on. Maybe the idea of Lennon being allowed to leave for the right price is no longer so far fetched, firstly he must get fit and once he is there will be occasions when he will have the opportunity to shine and he will have to take those opportunities in order to impress, for the first time Lennon will have serious competition for a place in the team and that might be the challenge that he needs.

Many of us have always believed that there was more to come from Aaron Lennon and perhaps now is the time for him to show it.

we play 3 games in next 6 days so we need such a large squad so quality isn’t sacrificed. If we can find someone less injury prone, better n a at a lesser price than what we get for him then I’d take it cause his finishing n crossing is still a major worry. If we could swap him for ben arfa would we worth It acc to me
