John Terry derailed Tottenham’s season in that game at QPR

Posted on June 14, 2012 by Tony

The game at QPR when the alleged Terry/Ferdinand incident occurred had more far reaching effects than could be imagined at the time and until the season starts or the transfer season ends we don’t know how it will all end, especially in regard to Tottenham Hotspurs.

Until then Fabio Capello was settled in as England manager having successfully guided us through to Euro 2012, Redknapp was roaring along with Spurs chasing the Manchester duo and well ahead of Arsenal. Champions League qualification was a foregone conclusion we all felt. Harry won his tax case and we beat Newcastle 5-0, and then the captaincy issue at England occurred. Capello was gone, Harry was installed as favourite to take over in his place, and Spurs season subsequently collapsed!

Perhaps if Harry had not so obviously courted the job at the time and the media, players and other managers had been told there were 6 or 7 options for the job and not just an Englishman things may have been different.

Hodgson got the job, Spurs results improved (surely no coincidence) and the rest is history.

As a result of the lack of Champions League action this coming season will Levy hold his nerve and improve the team, will he retain the services of all the KEY players, did we lose the possible purchase of Eden Hazard who was heavily linked for most of the season. Harry has now lost his job at Tottenham making him the first casualty.

All Tottenham fans will probably have a couple of months of anguish yet with the odd moment of great hope but how will it end only time will tell.
