Lennon returns but will he start?

Posted on April 24, 2013 by Scraggs

There is no doubt that Tottenham have missed the services of Aaron Lennon over the past few games but the balance of the team that finished the Manchester City game certainly looked very effective. The central three of Huddlestone, Holtby and Dembele combined everything needed for a good midfield, Holtby and Dembele bring pace and power and the ability to support the forward players quickly and Tom Huddlestone, whilst a little cumbersome at times, has immeasurable passing quality and the ability to prompt attacks from just about any position on the field of play.

Suddenly AVB has an abundance of players with differing abilities to bring into the team when called for, it is hard to believe that AVB will have the finishing team plus a bench then including Adebayor, Parker, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Carrol, Naughton and  Caulker, cover in every position, more pace, height, width and creativity if the need arises.

Until recently Clint Dempsey would not have been considered first choice but his performances recently have probably changed opinion, he is scoring goals, creating the occasional chance and being a constant thorn in the side of every defender, his workrate and strength is second to none and he is in a rich vein of form. In a 4 3 3 formation which Tottenham converted to he was immense and with Defoe and Bale taking up positions all over the pitch he is a perfect foil, taking up positions to cover for them and to support whenever possible.

In answer to the question in my opinion he will not start the game as there is no need to do so before he is 100% fit and up to speed, he will be available to bring on if needed.
