Let’s hope this sorry saga ends with Lamela signing.

Where exactly is Erik Lamela? it has been suggested that he has been in London for a couple of days now in order to complete his medical and put his name to his Tottenham contract, he was though still training with his Roma teammates yesterday and is expected to be flying in today to finalise everything.

Vlad Chiriches is also due to complete his transfer tomorrow and so perhaps the plan is to unveil both before or during half time of tomorrows European fixture. Perhaps the stage is set for a bit of showboating from Tottenham for a change, imagine Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Lamela, Chiriches and possibly even another surprise signing in the Directors box and the announcement that Bale has been sold for a world record fee but this is what we bought to replace him, that should bring the house down.

Make no mistake Tottenham will be far stronger with the departing of Gareth Bale both financially and in the playing sense, no player has yet scored the winning goal in a match when injured and with the sheer numbers of quality new players Levy has brought in, AVB will never be short of quality to bring on in the event of injuries or to rotate players to ensure fitness over the course of the season.

Stupid headlines like “it’s over” Bale will never train with Tottenham again, or, that he has told pals that he is angry at his treatment! All twaddle and sensationalism for headlines, it’s been as good as over since his head was turned and a world record fee was mentioned, not because he forced the issue, we all know Levy would stick to his guns and not sell if he wanted to, but because it is a ridiculous sum of money for a single player, to all those that say having a player of that calibre will bring titles and success just what happened with Ronaldo and all the other recent buys like Kaka, Modric, Benzema, Ozil etc. at Madrid, how many trophies have they won in those four years, one league and one cup, no Champions League wins or even a final appearance, they cannot even use Barcelona and Messi as a major excuse as Chelsea and Bayern have both won it without a galactico.

Bale alone was never going to take Tottenham to the top where they want to be but his departure will help to quicken the possibility by allowing them to buy several top players all adding something extra to the squad.

After just two games surely nobody can still be doubting that Paulinho is one of the best players in the world and a snip at £17m, that Soldado is a class or two above the current Tottenham strikers or that Capoue and Chadli would be welcome in most other teams in the premier league. Tottenham have bought well with more to come.
