Levy gives his word, Bale stays.

Posted on June 20, 2013 by Tony

Now we have been told by AVB that Daniel Levy has given his word that Gareth Bale stays this season we can begin to relax and look forward to the arrival of the new players that will ensure he stays for many more seasons. Two years ago Levy stated at the end of the preceding season that none of Tottenham’s stars would be sold, Chelsea were an absolute pain in the proverbial in their attempts to buy Luka Modric but he held firm and eventually after a few tantrums Modric played again for Tottenham. At the end of following season he made no such promise, probably fully aware that he had agreed that Modric could leave unless Tottenham had won entry into the Champions League, it is likely that the proviso was that he would be sold abroad and only for the going rate.

Gareth Bale seems quite happy to give it at least one more season to see if his team mates, led by AVB, and a couple of new stars can finally elevate themselves to a new level, he still has plenty of time to move on if that is what he eventually wishes, but right now he must be relishing the fact that he is the star and the team is built and constructed around his abilities and in order to get the best of him.He must know that should he go to Madrid he would play second fiddle to Ronaldo while he is there, even in the Marca yesterday the team put forward only had him battling with Ozil for a right sided position in the team with Benzema and Ronaldo guaranteed to start, imagine if they also buy Cavani, Suarez or Isco as they are threatening and his chances of starting every match reduce considerably.

In this Tottenham team, which is certainly closing the gap on the teams at the top, he is guaranteed a starting position in every meaningful fixture when fit and that is what every footballer wants to do, play. Gareth Bale is now a 20 goals a season player and if Tottenham can find a top striker with similar goalscoring qualities then they will really be in business, that is the aim, but it is likely that even more goalscoring potential will be purchased if the right players are willing to join the party.

AVB has turned down the chance to join mega rich PSG because he obviously trusts Daniel Levy to do what is best by him, his squad and the club, the Technical Director he asked for has been appointed in Franco Baldini and now they must all turn their attention to assembling a squad to win more points, challenge for silverware and get Tottenham into the Champions League.

It was never in doubt. Madrid are a shambles of a club as the galactictos idea has been a disaster since Zidane. Galacticos now means “mercenaries” in it for the money, for themselves and with no thought of the team. If Mourinho couldn’t bring them together nobody will. Second rate team, no class but lots of money. Not the only ones though, a couple finished ahead of Tottenham in the league.

Let’s hope Perez is suitably embarrassed and let’s make sure that Tottenham supporters let Madrid know what a fool he looks once the transfer window is closed. Daniel Levy is “The Guvnor”
