No logic to players linked to Poch.

Even before the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino the journo’s were going crazy with Tottenham transfer talk and now it is stepping up a gear with four or five potential purchases from his old club Southampton on the cards, the reality is that only two really make any sense, Shaw being an obvious requirement at left back for years to come and Lovren as a replacement for Younes Kaboul who we assume will be allowed to leave due to injury issues.

Shaw we all believe to be headed for United though I am at a loss to understand why, even with the new man at the helm United have a lot to do and many players to purchase before they can hope to be back in the real big time so that leaves Lovren, surely the type of player that Tottenham will need in this transfer window and hopefully a genuine target.

All the other potential purchases from Southampton and other clubs are surely just words to fill column inches for the hacks as they look for stories before the World Cup kicks off. Freddy Guarin, a name that keeps on cropping up who is obviously desperate to escape his current club and secure a nice payday, Victor  Wanyama who is making a play to follow his coach from Southampton, Adam Lallana who the papers would have us believe is now a target as is Shneiderlin,  all central midfielders a position already covered by Sandro, Capoue, Bentaleb, Paulinho, Eriksen, Holtby, Carroll, Sigurdsson and Dembele!

After the trauma of so many comings and goings of last summer can you honestly see Daniel Levy countenancing another major upheaval, very doubtful, the club will need to address a few issues of course, we might see a forward depart and be replaced, certainly another body will be needed in central defence and possibly a move for another left back will be made though i happen to believe that Danny Rose and Zeki Fryers might well be players that Pochettino will get the best from, Rose will certainly suit the system and Fryers will have bennefitted from a few run outs last season.

Can you honestly believe that the papers are still trying to link Tom Ince to Tottenham, another like Taraabt who believes he is world class when clearly he is struggling to find a top club who will entertain him.

We expect Pochettino to play with a 4 2 3 1 system which fits in with the squad we already possess, Paulinho, Eriksen, Lamela and Chadli should all benefit from having a couple of defensive midfielders in the team and there are numerous other options.

Central midfield is an area where Tottenham are well represented, they are surely not going to swap the potential of an untested Lamela for another central midfielder like Gaurin just when a fellow argentian has been appointed who specialises in nurturing young talented players.

Don’t expect too much in terms of exciting purchases this summer as there were too many fingers burnt last season but do expect more of those magnificent seven to come good.

There hasn’t been much logic with the spurs signings for a couple of years
