No surprises in Tottenham’s starting lineup.

Four games, four wins, three more new signings and another ¬£50m invested in the squad, a marvelous ¬†time to be a Tottenham supporter but today’s game can so easily change fortunes as has happened in each of the past two seasons.

AVB has an abundance of quality players to choose from and that brings it’s own problems, he has to manage a squad full of talent, rotate and protect the fitness of his squad and at all times do so with the most important ingredient being to win games. So far he has managed remarkably well but as more stars join and become integrated into the squad the pressure to start those stars increases.

At the moment two of the biggest and best performers of Tottenham’s recent past, Kaboul and Sandro, are still working their way back to full fitness and as a result can probably only expect a seat on the bench today. We believe that AVB and Tottenham will go with the same starting lineup as the Swansea game which will mean the following players will take to the field in one of the most important and greatest traditional fixtures in football:-

Lloris,Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose,Paulinho, Capoue, Dembele, Townsend, Soldado, Chadli.

It is on the bench where things might start to get a little interesting. AVB not only has an enormous squad from which to choose his starting lineup but he now also has an abundance of other players for the bench and so many can be game changers. We know that one of the spots will be taken up by Brad Friedel and as has been stated Younes Kaboul gives AVB the defensive cover that he needs as he is able to play right across the back line, Sandro is the ultimate defensive midfielder and whilst not yet quite up to match fitness he could come on for half hour or so if needed. The remaining four spots on the bench could be the interesting ones, Jermain Defoe has got to be a banker but it would be no surprise to see Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen sat there with possibly Aaron Lennon if fit.

Coming so early in the season the away leg of the North London derbies might be coming a little to early for Tottenham as they still need to integrate so many of their new stars into the scheme of things, nevertheless it is unlikely that we shall see the 5-2 scoreline that has haunted Tottenham for the last two years. A draw away to one of our main competitors will be a very decent result so early into the transition of the new squad, and that is the prediction on this occasion.
