Paulinho is not broken he simply needs a break.

It is difficult to find many good words written about Tottenham’s midfield dynamo Paulinho, his time at Tottenham has so far been considered a huge let down with criticism even from temporary coach Tim Sherwood in the short time he was in charge of proceedings.Since the Confederation Cup last summer when he was only second to Neymar in the rankings things have changed dramatically for him, until the knockout stages of the World Cup he has been a fixture in the national team but has been criticised from all quarters in Brazil and identified as the weak link and lacking form.
I have read that the people have blamed his time at Tottenham for the transformation in form and though his time in North London has not been as good as we all expected neither is it all bad.Eight goals in thirty three starts and four substitute appearances is hardly terrible for a midfielder especially one new to the premier league, though we might not think so now we should also be encouraged by the number of chances that he missed, many more than the eight taken in what could easily have been a tremendous season for him.
Paulinho is a box to box player with an epic engine enabling him to cover huge distances during a game and still make runs into the opposition box trying to sniff out a chance, that is an art in itself and one that Frank Lampard, now departed from Chelsea, once excelled at.
Paulinho will hopefully prove himself to be a great signing for Tottenham this coming season and in the future but before then he is in need of a decent break from competitive football, he joined us having featured in twenty-five games for Corinthians and after going straight into the Confederations Cup with his country before a short break and then a new venture in Europe a few short weeks later, after a hard, difficult season for him it was straight into the build up and involvement in the World Cup.
Despite being dropped from the Brazil team for the recent knockout encounter did he hide or sulk? not a bit of it he led the team talk and encouraged every member of the team to see the job through. Paulinho is no shrinking violet and doesn’t seem the type to shirk a challenge, he showed the world that he is a team player and does not hold grudges, when many would sulk and go into their shell having being dropped from the team he showed himself to be above that.
Until now Scolari has relied upon Paulinho and he will do so again just as soon as he is needed, though he is not at the top of his form you know he will put in a shift and will always provide a goal threat.
Paulinho is not broken and he will return a better player, a bit of rest and relaxation and a break from what has been more than a year of competitive football is all he needs right now but before that happens there remains the belief that he still has a big part to play in this World Cup for Brazil.
