Many Tottenham supporters realise that the club are going through yet another period of transition, there is plenty of optimism mainly as a result of recent announcements relating to the new stadium and NFL deal, but as always during the transfer window there remains much debate relating to players deemed surplus to requirements and the need to spend fortunes on marquee signings.

So far a few obvious departures have happened and set to follow Paulinho,Kaboul, Capoue and Stambouli out of the door will almost certainly be Adebayor, Aaron Lennon and Vlad Chiriches. Though the situation with Stambouli does seem a litle harsh and sad, after 9 years service, that Lennon is being ushered to the exit there are obviously reasons.

Another player that the media and a fair proportion of our own supporters seem intent on sending on his way is Andros Townsend,a current England International and an important member of the Roy Hodgson’s team. Though Townsend is not one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet he surely remains well worth his place in the squad.

Pochettino is building something quite different and a little special at the moment as he introduces more and more Academy players into the fold. There is a special feel about things as the “homegrown” element continues to permeate through the club. Andros Townsend IS an important individual within that group, his passion for the club remains undiminished and he is aware that he needs to work even harder on his game to make the breakthrough he demands.

It is rumoured that during the November bust up between the senior players and the youngsters like Harry Kane and Ryan Mason, Townsend and Nabil Bentaleb stood toe to toe with their friends, friends that have worked hard to earn their position in the Tottenham squad and that passion deserves more support from the fans.

Those four, Tom Carrol, Danny Rose and even Kyle Walker have fought their way into the squad having been part of the Academy, their are several others already threatening to make the breakthrough and they all refer to Andros and the others as role models and players most admired for having bucked the trend.

This bond or team spirit, whatever you wish to call it, must be harnessed to the benefit of the club, players and fans, and Pochettino seems the right man to do it. with so many youngsters in the group when you also add to those mentioned the likes of Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Erik Lamela, Kevin Wimmer, Delle Ali, Alex Pritchard and so many of the development squad now training with the first team the future really could be exceptionally bright.

Andros Townsend is a huge character within the group and in my opinion simply has to stay.
