Premier League predictions round 10.(Saturday)

Posted on November 02, 2013 by Eddie S

Last weeks predictions were not quite up to the standard of the previous week but still reasonable only ruined by a couple of late goals at Sunderland and Chelsea. Today and tomorrow throws up some big fixtures again and first v third is last up todaywhen Arsenal entertain Liverpool. Some of you might have seen yesterdays predictions spoof from Looro and I only hope that my own efforts are actually turn out to be more accurate.

  • Newcastle v Chelsea 12:45
  • I always tend to go for a good Newcastle result when they play fixtures in front of their own crowd and the bigger the game the better. Chelsea currently sit in second place and probably believe that by the end of the day they might be top if the result at the emirates goes their way, First they have to tame a Newcastle team blowing hot and cold, following a decent draw against Liverpool a couple of weeks back defeat in the derby against Sunderland will have hurt. with home advantage and the pain of last weeks result spurring them and their fans on I fancy a draw. 1-1.premier league
  • Fulham v Man Utd 15:00
  • Neither team have played to their potential on anything like a regular basis and both managers are experiencing some pressure, last week United drew on some of their ability to raise their game and fight back from a losing position late in the game at home to Stoke, they followed that up with a convincing win in the Capital One Cup while Fulham were losing to Championship side Leicester. Much as I hate to see Martin Jol in this situation I believe he has a couple too many luxury players around the team and for that reason regretfully feel that another defeat follows.1-3.
  • Hull v Sunderland 15:00
  • Hull return home after a couple of outstanding performances at Tottenham while Sunderland and their new coach will be buoyed by the win over Newcastle. Neither team are particularly strong in the striker department and so this is surely destined to be a low scoring affair. the return to action of Tom Huddlestone and loanee Jake Livermore will be significant for Hull and I take them to win this by 2-0.
  • Man City v Norwich 15:00
  • Norwich just keep coming up against the best teams in the league at the moment, this will be the seventh team in the top eight that they have faced so far this season with only Liverpool missing on the list. when faced with that schedule you have to say that they have done remarkably well to have eight points already. It seems that Manchester City will finally rest/drop Joe Hart following his recent gaffs, surprising when you consider that the keeper for city is probably only going to be an observer for much of the game. City to win comfortably 4-1.
  • Stoke v Southampton 15:00
  • This is a difficult one to call as Stoke will be keen to show their fans what they can do again and following a good performance at United last week seem to have some of their mojo back. Southampton are not what you would exactly call the surprise package of the season as they have been improving for some while, they are now a team to be respected rather than feared just yet. Not easy to predict and so forced to plump for 0-0.premier league
  • West Brom v Crystal Palace 15:00
  • WBA performances chop and change almost on a weekly basis ranging between excellent and poor while Palace make for a good gutsy performance but suffering from a porous defence. No matter whether Palace take the lead or put up a good defensive performance you just expect them to concede a goal at some point and undo any good work. WBA by 2-0
  • West Ham v Aston Villa 15:00
  • I suppose most might say that this is a game of experience versus inexperience, Big Sam v Lambert. West Ham have a good number of players within their team that have seen it and done it over a period of time while Villa have plumped for youth. Unfortunately for Sam Alladyce he has a real shortage of strikers at the moment, their big money signing Carroll has yet to recover from injury and they have been forced to re-sign Carlton cole on a 3 month contract. The recent return to action of Christian Benteke will I believe tip the scales on this one and take Villa 0-2.
  • Arsenal v Liverpool 17:30
  • This is the big one today and so difficult to call. Home advantage should favour a positive Arsenal result but then they have lost to Dortmund and Chelsea at the Emirates in little over a week and perhaps the buzz of their early season form is beginning to take it’s toll. Arsenal rested a number of players in the Capital One cup but Butch Wilkins was particularly scathing of their total lack of squad depth now that they have suffered a few injuries. Liverpool are on a high and Suarez and Sturridge are scoring almost at will. both teams are attack minded and this should be a good game to watch. As for the result probably one that neither side will be disappointed with but which might favour some of the chasing pack 2-2.
