Premier League predictions round 11.(Saturday)

Sat 9 Nov 2013 – Premier League

  • Aston Villa v Cardiff 15:00

Aston Villa are a team struggling to find a win in front of their own supporters, they have seen their team play seven times and apart from wins over Rotherham in the cup and Manchester City all the other fixtures have resulted in defeat. tomorrow they take on a Cardiff team blowing a little hot and cold, a great result over their Welsh counterparts Swansea last week means they go into this game on a high. I keep expecting Villa to turn the corner now that their star Benteke has returned to action but they continue to let me down. I am going to stick with them again and take them to triumph by 2-0.

Chelsea were stung by their defeat to Newcastle last week and came back strongly against Schalke in the Champions League though it took a bad keeper error to set them on their way. WBA have had some outstanding results as well as some strangely poor performances, they defeated United at Old Trafford but in my opinion Chelsea are a much stronger outfit than Moyes outfit and so I take Chelsea to triumph by 3-0.

  • Crystal Palace v Everton 15:00

Palace need to find a clean sheet from somewhere but I don’t see it happening this weekend. the Arsenal forward Chamakh on loan has apparently managed just the two shots in the ten games he has been involved in the season, both on target and one resulting in a goal. Everton will want to ensure that they take advantage of this fixture and with the ability of Mirallas and Lukaku, if fit, in their ranks then I believe that they will by a comfortable margin of 2-0.

Oh dear, I am a great believer in the work of Martin Jol but some of his purchases and player choices have concerned me a little of late, he does have within his ranks some players of outstanding individual skills and some players you would believe like a battle, Parker and Sidwell are perfect examples, there is experience but also an alarming lack of pace in every department which is causing them huge problems. Liverpool will be smarting from the defeat to Arsenal and will have far too much for Fulham. 3-1 Liverpool.

  • Southampton v Hull 15:00

Two teams that know how to defend who are both surprising the rest of the Premier League by performance and results. southampton are becoming real tough customers and play to a system that gets results, they will probably have to contend with a Hull team set up to protect what they have and with a couple of outings at Tottenham ensuring they have perfected the method this will be a close encounter. Probably because of the additional respect built from the two Tottenham games I am going for a far from boring 0-0.premier league

Both teams are finding it difficult to score the goals needed to win the points to take them further up the table, West Ham spent a fortune on the Liverpool forward Andy Carroll and he has yet to overcome injury despite not yet having started a game for months. Norwich have the same problem despite spending a chunk of funds on three forwards intending to cure the problem. to be fair Norwich have had to face all of the top clubs in the division and as I said last week to have the amount of points that they have is probably more than might be expected. They will now have a a run of games against teams nearer to their position in the table and I expect them to get a goal and a point this weekend. 1-1.

Week 10 resulted in a decent set of predictions, starting to get the hang of this maybe.
