Premier League Predictions round 14

Posted on December 03, 2013 by Eddie S

As we go into a set of midweek fixtures for the first time in a while perhaps we might expect even more strange scores and upsets or just maybe the big guns are now starting to settle into their stride. Thankfully I managed to find a bit of form in the last round of predictions and managed six correct including one perfect score.

  • Crystal Palace v West Ham 20:00
  • Not an easy prediction this as both clubs have shot me in the foot in recent weeks, Palace were struggling to defend and have turned that situation around while West Ham are struggling for strikers but have managed to score three goals against decent opposition on a couple of occasions. Pullis against Allardyce has all the makings of a battle but I believe one that will finish even.1-1 draw.
  • Wed 4 Dec 2013 – Premier League
    • Arsenal v Hull 19:45
    •  Both experienced good wins at the weekend with Hull trouncing Liverpool and Arsenal eventually seeing off Cardiff after a few scares. With home advantage and the impetus with them this should be comfortable for the Gunners and they will probably get their customary early goal. 2-0 home win.
    • premier leagueLiverpool v Norwich 19:45
    • Liverpool were for want of a better word stuffed by Hull at the weekend and as title pretenders and top four hopefuls will be keen to get back on track and quickly. After this fixture Norwich will have faced every team in the top half of the table and given that this is just the fourteenth fixture luck has not really gone their way as far as the fixture list is concerned. Until Norwich find a way to stop the defensive errors and score more goals fixtures like this will be difficult and Liverpool should romp home.3-0 home win.
    • Man Utd v Everton 19:45
    • Southampton v Aston Villa 19:45
    • In recent weeks Southampton have fallen away against the top two, after giving Arsenal and Chelsea a few problems errors crept in and they crumbled to defeat. Aston Villa are continuing to struggle for goals and Benteke is in the midst of his first crisis and a lack of form and goals. A tight encounter that could go either way but Southampton should have enough quality to see it through. home win 1-0.
    • Stoke v Cardiff 19:45
    • As always Cardiff put up a show against arsenal and might on another day have scored a goal or two to alter the complexion of the game, they are fighters and they come up against the biggest battlers of the last ten years in Stoke City. there probably isn’t much between the two sides other than the extra experience Stoke have gained over the years and that should be enought to earn them all three points. 2-1 home win.
    • Sunderland v Chelsea 19:45
    • Gus Poyet has certainly steadied the ship and roared on by the home support will cause many a problem to some of the best teams. Chelsea have been pretty average by their standards and it has been a while since they have put together a couple of convincing performances. Too often Chelsea have found themselves in a dog fight and they have had to rely upon a few fortuitous incidents to see them through. If Sunderland manage to get the upperhand then they are now capable of holding out for a result. 1-1 draw.
    • Swansea v Newcastle 19:45
    • Four games ago and Newcastle were in the mire with Chelsea and Tottenham amongst their future opponents but their results have now catapulted them from the edge of the relegation fight into top four contention, how they managed to do it was through hard work and incredible defensive qualities and they also possess a bit of a cutting edge with Loic Remy proving to be a great success. Swansea just carry on in their usual way outpassing almost every team they face, despite forking out a substantial sum on Bony they still miss Michu who is injured at the moment as without him their attack is considerably blunted. No winner for me. 1-1 draw.
    • Fulham v Tottenham 20:00
    • AVB’s Tottenham team finally turned the corner on Sunday with a vibrant performance against United, now they face a Fulham team deep in trouble and with a new man in charge following the dismissal of Martin Jol. We are all aware of the effect a managerial can make upon a team immediately following a change, new ideas and added fight to impress the new man is standard. Tottenham must be prepared to battle first and then use their superior players to win the game. This is a vital game for both clubs for different reasons and won’t be easy though i do still think that Tottenham will make their superiority tell and take the points .2-0 away win.premier league
    • West Brom v Man City 20:00
    • City are almost unplayable at home and are certainly picking up the pace at the moment but their away form is so bad that they are in danger of losing out on a title challenge unless they can cure the problem. WBA are not the team that you might like to be facing at the moment as they are capable of causing an upset,United and Chelsea have suffered at their hands but only in front of their travelling support, this is their opportunity to show what they can do at home and I believe that they might pick up a draw. 2-2 draw.

Not only is it going to be tight at the top but the relegation battle just got interesting. The hammers will have to spend big and well in jan or they are in trouble.
