Premier League Predictions Round 17 (Saturday)

Posted on December 21, 2013 by Eddie S

I’m back and have a bit of work to do to match last weeks efforts although the Tottenham v Liverpool result was wildly out. As we approach the halfway stage in the season and the busy Christmas and New Year schedule we should start to see the league table take shape. runaway leaders Arsenal have been pegged back and both Chelsea and City are closing fast but at the moment it is the challenge from both the teams from Liverpool that concerns them all. A big weekend and Monday night of football awaits us:

Sat 21 Dec 2013 – Premier League

  • Liverpool v Cardiff 12:45
  • After last weeks performance and the tactical brilliance of Rodgers to dismantle a Tottenham team devoid of a defence you have to fear for Cardiff and possibly even their coach. There is no doubt that we are about to have a new league leader  this weekend, at least until Arsenal take on Chelsea at least. Home win 4-0.premier league
  • Crystal Palace v Newcastle 15:00
  • What would have been gimme for Newcastle a few weeks back has now become a difficult encounter as Tony Pulis continues to make Palace tough to beat. Difficult to call so I’m going for a 1-1 Draw.
  • Fulham v Man City 15:00
  • Both teams seem to have found something like their true form but the gulf in class should comfortably see City home, even though they are without star forward Aguerro for a while they should still have too much from a much improved Fulham.Away Win 2-1
  • Man Utd v West Ham 15:00
  • Both teams fought their way through to the semi finals of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday with hard fought away wins, both will be exhilarated by the wins but both need points and for very different reasons. With home advantage and the need to claw their way back into the chase for a top four position and possibly even the title it’s United for me Home win 2-0.
  • Stoke v Aston Villa 15:00
  • With both teams sitting around the mid table position for both it is a case of cementing their position and not allowing poor results to drag either of them into the relegation dog fight. A point a piece would suit both of them at this stage and so that’s where I will go Draw 1-1.
  • Sunderland v Norwich 15:00
  • Sunderland seem to have developed a habit of shocking the best clubs around as since Poyet has taken over they have beaten both Manchester City in the league and now Chelsea in the Cup. Both teams are in desperate need of the points and it is going to be hard to call, I have my doubts whether either are capable of earning a clean sheet but the midweek Cup victory might prove to be the incentive Sunderland need. Home win 2-1.
  • West Brom v Hull 15:00
  • WBA thought fit to sack their coach recently after some strange results, sometimes they have been providing great performances like those at United and Chelsea while others are terribly inconsistent. Steve Bruce has put together a tough team to beat, as you would expect, and I expect them to take advantage of the WBA situation to win a few important points on the road. Away win 1-0.premier league
