Premier League predictions round 21.

Posted on January 10, 2014 by Eddie S

After what seems like an eternity the league fixtures are back as the 3rd of the FA Cup disrupted proceedings last weekend. On the face of it there should be no great surprises nor are there any 6 pointers at the top of the table in a while. As we all know this season has been conspicuous because of so many shock results involving clubs that would normally steamroller most opposition, let’s have a look and see where the next big surprise might come;

Sat 11 Jan 2014 – Premier League

  • Hull v Chelsea 12:45
  • Hull have developed into a very decent team under Steve Bruce and the Tottenham boys in the centre of the park will ensure that Chelsea know they are in a game. it is a shame that Hull have so far failed to bring in another striker, they have been linked with Shane Long and Fletcher, both of whom would have improved their chances against what is turning into a relentless Chelsea team. Away win 2-1.
  • Cardiff v West Ham 15:00
  • Two teams in the proverbial and both desperate for a win and 3 points. the Hammers are on a roll of crushing defeats while after a good start on home territory Cardiff are beginning to lose their way but now have a new man in charge and a great away win in the cup to raise their spirits. Don’t really see West Ham away support enjoying their journey back to London once again, after crushing defeats in Nottingham and Manchester I expect Cardiff to be added to that list.Home win 3-1.
  • Everton v Norwich 15:00
  • Bit of a mixed batch for Everton of late including a surprise home defeat to Sunderland while Norwich have tightened things up a bit at the back and picked up a few points they remain just a defeat away from the relegation zone. It’s back to business for Everton for me and a Home win 2-0.
  • Fulham v Sunderland 15:00
  • Two of the favourites for relegation but both capable of pulling good performances and results out of the hat. Both will be anxious to take the three points to bolster their chances of winning the battle to stay up, especially Sunderland. On this occasion a must win game will in my opinion finish all square. Draw 1-1.
  • Southampton v West Brom 15:00
  • A team that has lost their way versus a team that has found a new Spanish coach. Both teams are underachieving at the current time, especially a Southampton team that was one of the seasons early pacemakers. since they have dispensed with their coach West Brom. led by their caretaker Downing have seen improved results and those in the know rate their new man Mel very highly, like Roberto Martinez at Everton he likes his teams to play the beautiful game. Draw 1-1.
  • Tottenham v Crystal Palace 15:00
  • After picking up 10 points in 4 games including  good away wins at Old Trafford and in Southampton it was back down to earth with an insipid display at the Emirates as well as what many thought was the wrong line up and tactics on the day from Tim Sherwood. Against a Palace team that has become more resolute under the guidance of Tony Pulis this will be an examination of the Tottenham team. This is exactly the type of game that should see the two striker formation used in recent weeks prevail. home win 2-0.
  • Man Utd v Swansea 17:30
  • Three games played and three games lost, all by the same scoreline of 2-1, that’s the new Manchester United rapidly racing to become the dethroned champions of the EPL. 2014 has seen United defeated in every game including a home defeat to tomorrows visitors Swansea who must really fancy their chances. This is virtually the same United squad that ran away with the title last season and yet already they have resorted to relying upon their 18yr old Belgian to dig them out of trouble. Swansea have flattered to deceive at times this season but they do know how to frustrate the opposition. Because United are so desperate to put points on the table I am just going for them Home win 2-1.premier league
