Premier league predictions round 26 (11/2)

Posted on February 11, 2014 by Eddie S

Not such a good weekend of predictions but both North London clubs were noticeably wrong, Tottenham favourably so but though it was a pleasant shock to see Arsenal taken apart in less than twenty minutes it does give Liverpool the momentum in pursuit of the last remaining top four position. Tonight see’s only one of the top clubs taking part but all fixtures have considerable significance at the other end of the table though there will unlikely be any change to the bottom three.

  • Cardiff v Aston Villa 19:45
  • The first of a couple of home games for Cardiff who are getting close to the point of no return, a game against another team in relegation trouble giving them the opportunity to close the gap on those above them and ensure the fight goes on. Villa seem to have spurned chance after chance to climb away from trouble but just when you believe that they have turned the corner they find themselves back amongst it. Home win 2-0.
  • Hull v Southampton 19:45
  • As close to a meaningless game as there has been this season, Hull are creeping closer and closer to safety and were extremely effective in the transfer window adding two good strikers to their squad. Southampton are assured of their top ten place already and but for a major blip towards the end of 2013 might still have been in the mix for Europe. Draw 2-2.premier league
  • West Ham v Norwich 19:45
  • Both have been in the bottom three yet despite some improved performances of late are still deep in trouble. Norwich have stopped the rot of leaking goals and last week held high flying and high scoring City to a 0-0 draw. West Ham seemed to have turned the corner with the return of Andy Carroll yet though a red card threatened to derail them Nolan has continued scoring and seven points from their last three outings has made an enormous difference. Draw 1-1.
  • West Brom v Chelsea 20:00
  • As WBA drop into the relegation zone so do Chelsea hit the top and seemingly have begun a rich vein of form. The omens are not good for the home team as they are struggling defensively and they face a fluent attacking Chelsea team. With the Champions League games starting again soon and a tough game against City this weekend in the FA Cup there is every chance that Mourinho might shuffle his team and that might give WBA their chance. Away win 1-2.

Thank goodness I did not rely on your predictions at my bookies Eddie! Better luck next time.
