Premier league predictions Sunday 2/3/14.

Posted on March 02, 2014 by Eddie S

Well I didn’t make such a good job of yesterdays predictions with only Everton correct, just where the Newcastle and stoke result came from I don’t really know but as a result of the late stoke victory just a few Arsenal supporters are beginning to get the jitters while Liverpool might well begin to have a panic attack as the long awaited return to the Champions League gets ever closer. No doubt they will take tremendous comfort from the fact thast it will almost certainly be at Manchester United’s expense. But on to today’s league fixtures which for five of the six clubs involved relegation is the issue while just one, Tottenham still have hopes of challenging for a Champions League place.

  • Aston Villa v Norwich 16:30
  • Both teams are just four points and a few places above the relegation zone and a victory for either would probably mean a relatively calm run in to the end of the season. Norwich were the whipping boys for many of the top clubs earlier in the season but they have learned quickly and freshened up their act. Villa are probably in my opinion in a false position and only a lack of experience has cost them again. Draw 1-1.
  • Swansea v Crystal Palace 16:30
  • Swansea are in the same position as the two aforementioned on 28 points while Palace who have given themselves a real chance of survival are just a couple of points further back. We know how the game will go, Swansea will dominate possesion while Palace will be a tough nut to crack. A win for either team would bring an enormous step toward survival but the pressure of the occasion will in my opinion see this fizzle out into a stalemate. Draw 0-0.
  • Tottenham v Cardiff 16:30
  • This is most definitely last chance saloon for Tottenham as anything other than a win will leave them a little too much to do when you consider that they have to travel to Liverpool and Chelsea and entertain Arsenal. Everton are just a couple of points back while a win will close the gap to Arsenal and Liverpool to 6 points which would still be retrievable though probably unlikely. Cardiff are in a similar situation though they need to win to give themselves a chance of survival as the gap to safety continues to grow. Though I have enormous sympathy for the Cardiff supporters their owner really does deserve all he gets and I’m taking Tottenham to win this comfortably to give their chances a boost. Home win 3-1
