Premier League predictions-Week 7.(Sunday)

Posted on October 05, 2013 by Eddie S

With no more fixtures until the 19th October Sunday sees the last eight teams take to the field of play and they should all be good contests, this is how we believe that they might pan out:

Sunday 6th October

Norwich v Chelsea

Before last weeks victory over Stoke many believed that Chris Hughton might have been in trouble maintaining his position as coach of Norwich, obviously a good win away eased the problem although it is doubtful that one ever existed as Norwich are not the sort of club to press the panic button so early. Chelsea certainly brought their season to life with a good second half performance at tottenham to grab a point and followed that up with a fine away victory in Europe. Even though Norwich will put up a fine show in front of their own fans and even allowing for the fact the Chelsea strikers are still misfiring I still go for a Chelsea win by 3-1.

Southampton v Swansea

Possibly the most difficult to judge as both teams have been impressive for most of the season, both like to keep hold of the ball and build play and both could be serious contenders for a place in Europe next season by virtue of league position. The coaches of these teams have done remarkably well in a short space of time and they seemed to concentrate on attacking elements to their squads during the transfer window, because it is so difficult to separate the two sides I am going for a 2-2 draw.

Tottenham v West Ham

Surprisingly West Ham sit just above the relegation zone and with a negative goal difference, this has been caused, not by defensive frailties, but simply through a lack of goals in the absence of their main striker Andy Carroll and insufficient back up in that department. Tottenham as we know are currently the most offensive team in the division but have not hit the net with sufficient regularity, defensively the team are most un-Tottenham like and have conceded just the two goals to two other London teams. West Ham will be set up defensively but most believe that someone soon is likely to feel the full force of the attack and with the benefit of an early goal I expect a comfortable win for Tottenham by 4-1

West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal

Last but not least it is last weeks conquerors of United at home to the league leaders Arsenal who really are in the throes of a great run including what could be a record away from home. With home advantage and two excellent results behind them WBA will present problems for this Arsenal team who have surprised many since that poor opening day performance. I do believe the home team will provide a particularly stern challenge to Arsenal but the gunners are on such a high with recent results I take them to snatch another away victory by 2-1

After these games it is on to the internationals when a couple of good results should ensure that we shall be watching England in Brazil next summer.
