Premierleague predictions round 25

Posted on February 07, 2014 by Eddie S

After what seems like an eternity it’s back to the action of the Premier League, yet again there are some big games and the table will look very different once all the fixtures have been completed. The competition at the top and bottom of the table is really hotting up now with nothing yet resolved or remotely looking like being resolved. Last weeks predictions were reasonable especially Chelsea’s result at City.
Sat 8 Feb 2014 – Premier League

  • Liverpool v Arsenal 12:45
  • While nothing will be resolved by this one result both clubs will be using the game to make a statement, with a win Liverpool establish themselves as favourites for 4th spot and close the gap to the current leaders to a respectable 5 points. Arsenal will use this game and a win to announce that they are top on merit and the fight is truly on. It’s going to be close, Liverpool have the attackers to hurt Arsenal and yet I doubt Liverpool’s defence is up to the task of stopping Arsenal. Draw 2-2.
  • Aston Villa v West Ham 15:00
  • you might think that a team stood tenth in the table would be relatively safe by now but this is a season like few others before and a Villa result against a struggling, but recovering West Ham is essential. The Hammers revival has coincided with the return of their £15m attacker Andy Carroll and the FA ‘s final decision on his red card might yet prove crucial. Home win 2-1.
  • Chelsea v Newcastle 15:00
  • Chelseas are on a roll with the impetus of Monday’s fantastic result at the Etihad, there is also the little matter of revenge over Newcastle who somehow managed to win the reverse fixture despite being overrun for much of that game. The loss of Cabaye will have had a devastating effect on the morale of Newcastle and it might be a while before they again find their way. Home win 2-0.premier league
  • Crystal Palace v West Brom 15:00
  • One or other of these teams might easily find themselves in the bottom three after the game, they are level on points immediately ahead of the last three teams. You would have to say that with both teams replacing their coach in recent weeeks that Pullis has turned around the fortunes of Palace and seem to have bought well in the transfer window, the WBA coach probably joined a little too late to make the window really count. Home win 2-0.
  • Norwich v Man City 15:00
  • After the shock of a home defeat and failing to score against Chelsea City will be keen to get things back up and running but Norwich are not quite the pushovers they once were and this could be a tricky game. Still taking the title chasing favourites to overcome after a battle. Away win 1-3.
  • Southampton v Stoke 15:00
  • Both teams have got back to winning ways of late though Stoke need the points more as they are in the mix at the bottom.Southampton are probably the only team in the division playing for nothing other than honour, out of the chase for Europe and safe from relegation there is little to play for. Many of their players are in the frame to go to the Brazil and so won’t take their foot off the gas and home advantage gives them the edge. Home win 2-1.
  • Sunderland v Hull 15:00
  • Sunderland on a roll versus a Hull team struggling on their travels would probably lead most to suggesting a home win is a virtual certainty, but the new strikers have made Hull a totally different proposition adding pace and quality to their ranks. Sunderland have climbed out of the relegation zone and Adam Johnson is playing for a place on the plane to Brazil, as well as that Gus Poyet seems to be showing that he has learned his trade and is doing wonders with the players at his disposal. Draw 1-1.
  • Swansea v Cardiff 17:30
  • Both Welsh teams are in danger of going down and both have now sacked their coach though this weeks decision to dispose of Laudrup has come as something of a shock. Swansea have home advantage but it is Cardiff who have done considerable work in the transfer window though it remains to be seen whether any of the purchases can change the fortunes of the club. Swansea have missed Michu more than any team of quality should and though Bony has taken up the challenge and scored goals, Swansea are the team dropping like a stone and in desperate need of a positive result. Away win 0-1.

Liverpool should be 4-0 up on the goons after 14 minutes. Arsenal could really be in for a proper drubbing today.

16 minutes, Liverpool 3 – 0 Arsenal. This is fun!

  3. Boobaspur says:

    19 minutes, Liverpool 4 – 0 Arsenal

  4. Boobaspur says:

    Arsenal, Title what?

At this rate Arsenal are looking at about an 18 – 0 defeat.

not so good this week Eddie but at the same time some strange results, Good to see the gooners get a good hiding but need Liverpool to slip up so that didn’t help in chase for 4th.
