Premiership predictions Boxing Day

Posted on December 24, 2013 by Eddie S

so here we go the games are set to come thick and fast and squads will be tested to the full, some teams will suffer more as injuries depletes the numbers available and games in quick succession will inevitably bring about tired legs and mistakes. there are some mighty tussles coming up and the table at both ends is so congested that things could quickly develop and change very quickly.

Lets take a look at the Boxing Day fixtures.

Thu 26 Dec 2013 – Premier League

  • Hull v Man Utd 12:45
  • The early kick-off features a slightly rejuvenated United on a decent run of results up against a resilient Hull side coached by one of the old boys. Hull have home advantage and are doing very well but unfortunately they probably don’t quite have the attacking prowess to cause an upset on this occasion. Close but Away win 1-0.
  • Aston Villa v Crystal Palace 15:00
  • At some point Villa have to start hitting some sort of form but even last years scoring sensation Christian Benteke isreally suffering. Palace had seemed to have tightened up before their last encounter but a big home defeat might have raised concern again. This is a crucial game for Villa if they are not to be gragged nearer to the dogfight at the bottom and I take them to win Home win 2-0.
  • Cardiff v Southampton 15:00premier league
  • With the news that Malky Mackay has his job for a while longer the Cardiff support will be on a high and will roar on their team, a team that in all honesty has managed to give every opponent a decent run for their money. Southampton are a good team that has run into a spot of bother in terms of results and have been badly affected it seems by one or two injuries. I am finding it difficult to pick a winner and so am going for a 1-1 Draw
  • Chelsea v Swansea 15:00
  • Ruthlessly efficient without the ruthless, thats Chelsea at the moment but they are ominously placed if and when they can put it all together. booed of with the cries of “Boring” ringing in their ears at the Emirates on Monday they were rarely in trouble. swansea go about their job in their normal controlled manner but without Michu, so often missing because of injury this season, they are struggling to score the goals needed. Home win 2-0.
  • Everton v Sunderland 15:00
  • Everton have become the most consistent team in the division and are simply getting better, they are certainly strong contenders at the top of the table provided they ┬ácan cope if any injuries occur especially in central defence. Sunderland now are a better team than their position might suggest but this is going to be tough for them. Home win 2-1
  • Newcastle v Stoke 15:00
  • Not half a dozen games ago Newcastle looked like relegation dogfight fodder and then a couple of smash and grabs and Chelsea and Tottenham transformed their season. Stoke continue to blow hot and cold and if the get it right on the day will be a handful for their hosts. Draw 1-1
  • Norwich v Fulham 15:00
  • Both teams desperate for points will be hoping to start the festive period with a win, Norwich managed to keep a rare clean sheet last time out and will be hoping to do so again but have had problems scoring as well so much work still to do. Fulham have improved since the new coach came in but still remain rooted near the bottom. They both will still be after this game whatever happens. Draw 1-1
  • Tottenham v West Brom 15:00
  • Following his official appointment on an 18month contract new Head coach Tim Sherwood could not have wished for a better fixture than WBA at home. West Brom. also sacked their coach but are a team nearer the bottom of the table rather than with ambitions of finishing in the top four. Tottenham will be on a high and we just know their orders will be “go out there, enjoy yourselves and score goals” I think they will. Home win 4-1
  • West Ham v Arsenal 15:00
  • A London derby with so much resting on it for both teams and for very different reasons. the hammers are just a point above the relegation zone and defeat could easily tip them into the last three whereas Arsenal are going through one of those spells they always knew might come, a seven point lead has slipped away and it has been a few weeks and five games since they last tasted victory. The first goal is going to be vital as whoever takes the lead will dictate the pattern for the rest of the game. Away win 2-1
  • Man City v Liverpool 17:30
  • The late game and the match of the round as the winner will quite likely lead the table at the finish. City have managed to destroy all the visitors to the Etihad this season while Liverpool themselves are in a rich vein of form and with the lethal Suarez to cause city concern. City will miss Aguerro, the only striker close in terms of quality to the Liverpool man, but they have others and plenty of them. Probably not going to be such a landslide for City but plenty of goals. Home win 3-1.
  • A big day ahead and that will soon be followed up with another round of fixtures at the weekend.
