Premiership predictions Saturday 1/3/2014

Posted on March 01, 2014 by Eddie S

As you will know I was unable to post my particular predictions last week and Tony kindly filled in for me. I am pleased to say that he fared no better than me , in fact it was not a very good showing at all which just goes to prove how difficult it can be this season. Here are my verdicts for today which I am hopeful will be close and will see the chase for the title, top four and relegation places remain up for grabs.

  • Everton v West Ham 15:00
  • Whatever you might think Everton are most definitely still in the race for a top four position even though they like one or two others have dropped off the pace a little, while West Ham go from strength to strength after looking like relegation fodder just a few short weeks ago. This won’t be an easy game for the home team but I will still take them to win and continue the chase. Home win 2-1.
  • Fulham v Chelsea 15:00
  • This local derby takes on huge significance today as the home team are bang in trouble and have their third coach of the season trying to dig them out of a hole. Chelsea travelled to Turkey in midweek for their champions League fixture and were disappointed with their showing and a draw after leading. To be fair to fulham they have not been playing too badly for the past four or five fixtures but have little to show for it. I just get the feeling that this will be very close. Draw 1-1.
  • Hull v Newcastle 15:00
  • By all accounts Hull’s last performance was one of the best of the season as they comfortably beat one of the strugglers away from home. they have been galvanised by their two new forward signings who certainly seem to know where the goal is. Newcastle started the season poorly then went on a fantastic run but seem to have slipped back again and this encounter won’t help them at all. Home win 2-0.
  • Stoke v Arsenal 15:00
  • Well we all know that when Tony Pullis was in charge nobody, least of all Arsenal, fancied a visit to the Potteries and now that the team has settled under the guidance of Mark Hughes they will find that this will be a difficult encounter for them. Ozil has been taken out of the firing line and will probably remain so for what promises to be a battle at the outset at least, i still believe that arsenal will have a bit too much for Stoke though Peter crouch will caquse plenty of problems if selected. Away win 2-0.
  • Sunderland P – P West Brom Postponed
  • Southampton v Liverpool
  • This is one of those encounters that decides Liverpool’s true ability, Southampton on their day are capable of beating just aboust anybody while Liverpool if they get their tails up could win handsomely. southampton now have four players in the england squad for the upcoming friendly and will want to show just what they are capable. Liverpool with a win can make a statement to all the other contenders and one or two ahead of them that they are now a force to be reckoned with. Draw 1-1.
