Round up of today’s Tottenham news.

There still lingers the hope that one of the teams ahead of Tottenham might yet falter and allow them to creep past  and pinch a top four slot and the team probably most vulnerable remains Arsenal. Nobody it seem is yet taking Everton seriously yet as things stand are the true contenders and actually entertain the red half of North London on the 6th April in what will be a vital game. It has to be said that though extremely unlikely based upon current form it is feasible that Tottenham could upset Liverpool’s charge this weekend, a Tottenham victory would pile the pressure on those above them and their run in is arguably the easiest of them all but to do so will take a performance of the highest order and for the team to get out of the blocks from the first seconds of the game.

Already some reports are appearing of potential purchases come the summer transfer window as Tottenham seem to be in the market for a number of players , another defensive midfielder to go with the three we already have as Yann M’Villa seems set to become available once more, no thanks and no chance.

Lukaku seems likely to be sold by Chelsea we are told and Tottenham are apparently set to start the bidding at between £18m and£25m you can take your pick but when the same sites are telling us that Adebayor is world class and indispensible and until such time as Soldado has been given another season to see whether he has settled this is just wild speculation. Our guess is that should Tottenham actually pursue a Belgian forward this summer the likely target would be Christian Benteke.

Sadio Mane an apparent Bale like player in the Austrian League is another that Tottenham are desperate to sign for upwards of £10m but there have been reports of interest from Chelsea, City and Borussia Dortmund and quite frankly another young player of potential operating in an inferior league is an unlikely target.

Rumours of a bid for the Italy coach to take charge next season have come to an end as Prandelli has signed a new two year contract and so the field continues to narrow should Tottenham as expected appoint an experienced coach for next season. Some are still suggesting that Sherwood MUST be retained but still no valid reasoning or argument to the statement.

We finish on a ridiculous note as there has been one isolated report of the possibility of Bacary Sagna being linked to Tottenham, apparently Arsenal are unlikely to pay him the amount that he feels he deserves but he believes that Tottenham might wish to do so! Bearing in mind that he will be close to 32 yrs of age by the time the season starts and we have a certain Kyle Walker many years his junior established at right back the chances of a bumper contract being offered by Tottenham is not only a remote possibility but an impossible one.
