Sandro to Chelsea. It’s the Metro comedy routine.

Posted on June 04, 2014 by Guest Writer

The Metro is now touting Sandro for a transfer to Chelsea having failed miserably with the Paulinho story a week or two back. With Chelsea and Mourinho prepared to make a take it or leave it £12m bid Daniel Levy must be roaring with laughter. When chelsea came calling with a £40m take it leave it offer for Luka Modric a few seasons back he told them precisely what they could do with their offer.

Having banked £50m for Luiz from PSG the figure of even 320m mentioned to Napoli pales into insignificance, just what is Luiz a defender or midfielder? and what makes him worth such a ridiculous sum of money, chelsea might have pulled the wool over the eyes of PSG but Levy is a different ball game altogether and unless someone like Lukaku comes the other way no deals with Chelsea will be done in the near future.

Just like yesterday it seems that Tottenham are battling to retain the services of their players and in many cases it is suggested that despite playing in the majority of fixtures last season some are so dissatisfied after the antics of Tim Sherwood that the suggestion is that the club are fighting a losing battle.

With contracts in place and a new man in charge almost all of these stories have no basis of truth, especially when it comes to the appeal of Italian clubs which just doesn’t exist, only Juventus are likely to go beyond the group stages of the Champions League and have any hope of attracting any of the better players. Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina are the other clubs to have progressed into the elite competition and they finished 17,24 and 37 points respectively behind Juventus. second placed Roma were picked clean of some of their best players last summer including the player that they expected to replace the great Totti, Erik Lamela. None of these clubs are going to worry Tottenham when it comes to losing players that they wish to keep.

It’s still almost a month before the transfer window officially opens and already the the scaremongering has begun, there will be plenty more yet, the club might sell a player or two in an effort to create the squad needed to improve upon last season both in relation to position and the number of points won, it will probably not be until the players return to the club in early July that Pochettino will make his final assessments though it is likely that a number of potential targets have already been identified.

This is a crazy time of the year for football supporters with relentless speculation in relation to comings and goings, somehow this time for Tottenham  most don’t expect too much to happen as the club look to consolidate.
