Spurs news, Arsenal honour and Southampton demise.

Posted on July 28, 2014 by Random Spurs Supporter

After a successful tour Tottenham return home and will welcome their teammates back from World Cup wind down, the good news, as predicted by JTN a couple of weeks ago, is that Jan Vertonghen seems set to sign a new longterm contract and will probably vie with Hugo Lloris for the captains vacancy if as expected Michael Dawson departs. News of Tottenham transfer targets are diminishing rather than increasing though Pochettino seemed to imply that the club are seeking a couple of players to improve the squad. News about the injury to Chiriches and illnesses of Adebayor and Sandro have not been mentioned of late  but hopefully we shall know something this week.

There has been some interesting news of another honour bestowed upon our illustrious neighbours Arsenal they have  become the first Premier League team in history to lose to a Major League Soccer (MLS) side when they were beaten 1-0 by New York Red Bulls. While on  tour their fullback Jenkinson showed his class by leading their supporters in a disgusting song about Tottenham no doubt in some vain hope that he can save his Arsenal career from going down the drain like Wilshere who has again been forced to apologies. Just who is responsible for keeping their players in check?  Walcott, Wilshere,,Cazorla, Szczesny and Jenkinson amongst others have all been guilty in recent months of a lack of respect for Tottenham and which should perhaps be looked at as incitement as our supporters will not react well when the clubs next meet, I cannot recall any players from other clubs acting in such a senseless, childish manner.

Liverpool have pulled out of the deal for Loic Remy for medical reasons and so for their backup option it has been reported that they have again looked to Southampton for Jay Rodriguez, why didn’t Rodgers just leave and apply for the position at Southampton after Pochettino left for Spurs? still it is probably good news for Harry Redknapp who has asked for another striker, strange that when Remy is already their player.

On the subject of Redknapp and QPR it has been said that they are seeking to secure the services of Rafael Van de Vaart and I for one wish them every success, the Premier League deservesa great player and competitor like him appearing again on a regular basis and it would be great to see him at White Hart Lane once more.
