Spurs v West Ham expected lineup.

Posted on December 17, 2013 by Eddie S

I never thought that I would be saying this but tonight Tim Sherwood will name his team to face West Ham in the quarter final of the Capital One Cup and all eyes will be on how the team perform as much as the result. A proportion of the Tottenhan support and most of the pundits and media have bemoaned the style of AVB’s teams and tomorrow we shall see whether Sherwood can choose a team to please everybody and take us through to the next round.

First reports are that three defenders will be fit to play, Rose, Kaboul and Chiriches but Sandro is injured and Dawson and Paulinho are suspended. The question now is whether Sherwood changes the system and goes with a 4 4 2 or sticks to 4 5 1 and simply changes the personnel. By all accounts Adebayor is back training with the first team but hopefully Sherwood will shy away from changing the system as Sam Allardyce  will almost certainly use similar tactics to last time and swamp the midfield with six players at times.v wham

Sherwood is a great believer in giving youth a chance and he was almost certainly one of those involved in the transfer window bonanza that saw so many new arrivals so tonight’s team should be a blend of the two. Now is the time to put up or shut up, some of the persons apparently responsible for weakening the position of AVB now have control of team affairs for the time being, their reputation is on the line. Even now the reports are that the players were with AVB and were saddened by his demise and even though Tottenham supporters were disgusted with the Liverpool result and performance I get the impression that a large percentage still realise there were extenuating circumstances and still believed that AVB was due more time.

As supporters it is now our duty to get behind the team and whoever has been chosen to pick the team and coach the group, as things stand we are just two rounds from an appearance at Wembley and a cup final and irrespective of what has gone on we start tonight as huge favourites.

Tbh its hard for me to be emotional attached with our results. Our club has become a joke but I will support the boys whenever I can

I have to say this treatment of AVB does not get any easier nor does it make sense, the players brought in were not his choices, the loss of and lack of cover for rose has hurt his plans. Yet again the Director of Football method has cost us a good coach. for the life of me I cant see why the man who makes the calls on the pitch doesn’t have the say on players bought to make an immediate impact, the DOF can search and bring in players for the future.
It seems the players were ALL with him and I am convinced our season is ruined, I hope not and would like nothing more than the next appointment be THE one just like Bill Nic all those years ago.

  2. Jide says:

I really do not know what to say and that takes a lot to happen. Losing twice to West Ham at WHL. Manager present or not, after the last defeat, I do not know what motivation the players needed to gear themself up to defeat a team that caused so much embarrassment to us. They need to take a good and honest look at themselves. It’s pathetic.

I’m beginning to ask myself, did we take the right decision by sacking AVB? Even to myself..did I do the right thing by agitating for his sacking. Maybe it was the players that were not good enough. We need to remember, West Ham is 17th in the league.

    What next?

As the days have gone on little by little it is becoming obvious that those behind the scenes stabbed AVB in the back, recent reports that Levy wanted him to play Ade and switch to 442 might have been true and if so he should be ashamed. sorry but if there are some working in the background to engineer situations for their own purpose then rather than sack the coach those despicable people should be made to go. Baldini was supposedly a friend of AVB and does not come out of this with any credit, has he engineered it for Capello to return to another massive contract. The whole sorry episode stinks.
