Poch must maintain and build on special bond. 0

Many Tottenham supporters realise that the club are going through yet another period of transition, there is plenty of optimism mainly as a result of recent announcements relating to the new stadium and NFL deal, but as always during the transfer window there remains much debate relating to players deemed surplus to requirements and the need to spend fortunes on marquee signings.

So far a few obvious departures have happened and set to follow Paulinho,Kaboul, Capoue and Stambouli out of the door will almost certainly be Adebayor, Aaron Lennon and Vlad Chiriches. Though the situation with Stambouli does seem a litle harsh and sad, after 9 years service, that Lennon is being ushered to the exit there are obviously reasons.

Latest Tottenham News- More signings possible. 8

Somewhat surprisingly to many Danny Rose has been called up to the England squad after a run of two games in the Tottenham team and no goals conceded, at the same time Callum Chambers move to Arsenal and the huge fee involved has also convinced Roy Hodgson to call him up. Now I am all for introducing youngsters to the England set up but based upon regular performances of quality and not just a couple of decent showings,

There will be no Townsend or Holtby exit. 0

Two players seemingly in great demand yet reputed to be unwanted by Pochettino at Spurs are Andros Townsend and Lewis Holtby, if reports are to be believed Southampton are not prepared to give up on acquiring Townsend with an increased bid above the £10m turned down due to be submitted soon. Lewis Holtby seems to have caught the eye of a number of clubs with the most high profile being Everton following the injury to Ross Barkley.

Sherwood “Townsend is our new Bale ” must now pick him. 0

Tim Sherwood has been very vocal about the return to fitness of Andros Townsend and rightly talks up his impressive form and just how much of a difference he might make to the performance of the team, Townsend has been nothing short of sensational for Tottenham and England this season and only needs more goals to really secure his status as one of the stars of the season.

In quotes published by the Express, the Spurs boss said:-

“Andros can do something different. He can go past people, turn a bad performance into a fantastic result like Gareth Bale did last year.”

Time for Townsend entrance, stage left. 1

Andros Townsend will be most remembered for his performances last year for QPR, Tottenham and England operating on the right hand side of midfield, he was given his Tottenham opportunity at the beginning of the season because of an early injury to Aaron Lennon and followed that up with an England call up as a result of the usual injuries to Theo Walcott. It is fair to say that Townsend took his chances with both hands and cemented his place in both teams and though his form in the Tottenham team was electric he failed to turn his ascendancy over almost every fullback into goals and assists, though few doubted his worth to the team it became obvious that he still needed to be more productive.

I don’t get the anti Walker brigade. 8

Jamie Redknapp and Twitter had very little good to say about Kyle Walker’s performance last night and yet once again he kept his opposite numbers in check and still found time to maraude forward and cause the German defence some problems. I cannot recall a single occasion this season when he has been given the runaround and rarely has he been caught out defensively or been at fault for a goal despite being the most used outfield player at Tottenham this season.

Townsend nails down England right wing spot. 0

If England need a player to excite and terrify opposition defences then their man is Andros Townsend, yet again he donned the england shirt and took the fight to the opposition at every opportunity and to back him up and run past him and add his own brand of pace was Kyle Walker. Every time that they play down the right in the England team and for Tottenham then so does their understanding and ability to break down the opposition improve. With more than ten years at the top and their best years some way ahead of them England might just have the a wonderful partnership blooming.

Has Harry Kane’s time arrived? 3

Most Tottenham supporters believed that Harry Kane was lined up to join Harry Redknapp at QPR on a seasons loan along with Tom Carroll, the hope being that both players might return to Tottenham ready to continue the revolution started by AVB, might these two join the likes of Walker, Caulker, Rose and Townsend with such effect.

Because of question marks over Emanuel Adebayor and some fitness issues with Jermain Defoe the move failed to happen and Kane has since managed to get a few minutes of game time with the first team. Kane has quickly progressed into the England U21 ranks and is now scoring goals at youth international level more regularly, including a recent hat-trick.

Andros Townsend, consistency is the key. 9

All the headlines seem to feature Andros Townsend these days as he has burst onto the scene with Tottenham and England, but is he deserving of all the accolades that have been thrown his way after such a short period of time and at such a tender age. The thing with Townsend is that he is playing extremely well and seems to play with no fear but even more impressive is his consistency. Last season he joined QPR on loan at the end of January and went on to play just a dozen games for them, in his time with them he also managed to score a couple of goals and in a struggling team, eventually relegated, he managed to terrorise every defender he came up against including Arsenal’s £10m capture from Spain Monreal. In just twelve games for QPR he made such an impression on their supporters that they actually voted him as their player of the season.

From stand-in to star. How will Townsend react? 1

News of Andros Townsend’s inclusion in the England team on Friday probably didn’t register too highly with most supporters across the country, Tottenham supporters would have been interested in seeing whether he could take his club form into England duty, while Arsenal supporters and many England fans would have been cursing the luck of Theo Walcott and fearing that recent form might dissipate in his absence. Fast forward to today’s crucial final fixture of this World Cup campaign, we hope, and Townsend is the name on everyone’s lips and a player upon which massive hope rests.
