AVB criticism of Tottenham unfair. 0

Posted on December 18, 2014 by Guest Writer

It has been reported that Andre Villas-Boas has spoken out against his two previous employees, Chelsea and Tottenham and though it is true that the Chelsea owner did move the goalposts and his complaint against him is valid his complaint about Daniel Levy failing to tie up the transfers of four players he asked for is in the main quite ridiculous if true.

We know that he wished to purchase Moutinho from Porto and it seems that major efforts were made to tie up a deal for much of the transfer window only for third-party ownership to ruin it all, it can and does happen as we also saw this past transfer window as Tottenham tried to buy Musacchio from Villarreal only to experience all the same headaches before finally settling for Frederico Fazio.

Wenger talks up Sherwood credentials, I wonder why? 8

Over the past couple of seasons Tottenham have been too close for comfort to Arsenal in the chase for Champions League qualification, in fact each of the last two should have seen the trend change and Tottenham qualify at their expense. Because of this concerted challenge Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board have come under increasing pressure though Tottenham’s recent demise has taken the pressure off as their fans seem to simply be happy to see Tottenham’s struggles.

Adebayor’s team for Sunday. 2

As in the day of Harry Redknapp so Adebayor is similarly happy with current coach Tim Sherwood with the common denominator being that he is chosen for the team no matter what. Now there are times when his usefulness to the team is obvious and evident but with news of the details of the row he himself perpetrated with AVB, which he has now decided to reveal, comes concern.

Sherwood fails audition. 22

This game might just have told us a little more about what went on behind the scenes as well as confirm that Tim Sherwood is out of his depth. There have been rumours for weeks that those in the background have been trying to pressure AVB into switching to a 4 4 2 system and to play Adebayor, while the media and pundits like Jamie Redknapp  have been making the case for Jermain Defoe to start suggesting he is the one natural finisher in the squad, tonight we got some answers,  it was almost certainly true that there had been interference, 4 4 2 is not the answer and Defoe is not now nor ever a natural goalscorer and is no longer worth a place in the starting lineup.

You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. 18

Let us hope that this saying does not come back and bite us as the Tottenham board and those that have the ear of the Chairman seek a replacement for AVB. already stories are beginning to appear suggesting that none, or very few of the summer signings, were of AVB’s choosing and that in fact he has not been backed in the transfer market from day one, one newspaper has even suggested that the deal for Moutinho as Modric’s replacement fell apart over just £500,000 in a £26m deal.

And we’re back. Spurs recovery continues. 12

There was concern in some quarters when the Tottenham team was announced, No Chiriches, no Vertonghen and no Kaboul, all unfit to play and so Etienne Capoue was drafted in to cover for the three alongside Michael Dawson. Along with the left back problem and Sandro rested for this one many thought AVB had made some decisions that might come back and haunt him again but perhaps we should begin to have more faith in our coach as the team controlled almost every aspect of the game.

Hansen blasts:’Struggling’ boss has wasted £100m and is facing the sack. 3

Posted on December 03, 2013 by Scraggs

When I first read this headline today I immediately thought that Hansen was actually talking about the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, he arrived at Liverpool at the same time as AVB was appointed at Tottenham and has also spent close to £100m in the transfer market, in the case of Liverpool of course their transfer activity has resulted in a net loss of £56m against a profit of close to £5m for Tottenham.

A little reminder to all you who want your Tottenham back. 5

As we approach December and with less than a third of the season gone Tottenham are apparently a club in trouble and the man in the firing line and responsible for their demise is Andre Villas-Boas, the media are already putting forward names to replace him while the odds are on him being the next to be sacked. The longer Daniel Levy delays the decision to sack this failure the less the chances Tottenham have of escaping relegation and they might still hope to have a run in the last cup remaining the FA Cup which stars for them in January.

AVB begins the fightback. 7

Andre Villas-Boas has worked on these shores for only a little over two years and in all that time the British media have given him a hard time, for a brief spell earlier this year he maybe got a little credit, but not much, as the press were quick to tell us that Tottenham were only a one man team and without the goals and mercurial skills of Gareth Bale we would be nowhere. I have to ask where were those goals from Gareth Bale during the few years he regularly played for Harry Redknapp? or during the first three or four months of last season when the goals hardly flowed for him, should AVB not have received just a little credit for the transformation?

Tromso v Tottenham, So meaningless and yet so important. 6

Posted on November 28, 2013 by Eddie S

Tottenham take on Tromso tonight in what should really be a meaningless fixture in the fifth game of the Europe league group stage, but because of Sunday’s horror show at Manchester City it has taken on extra significance. AVB especially and some of his players including record signing Roberto Soldado have borne the brunt of all the bad feeling from the media and a section of unhappy Tottenham supporters.
