D-day approaches for Luis”it tastes like chicken”Suarez. 13

Posted on August 07, 2014 by Guest Writer

We should know in a little over 24 hours the result  of the appeal by Luis Suatez to his total ban from football for 4 months for biting yet another opponent. Of course it seems pretty obvious to y now what the result will be, the World Cup is over for another 4 years and FIFA have bigger fish to fry as they have to deal with yet more corruption charges. The entire situation is surreal at the moment, Suarez is a Barcelona player in all but official announcement but that is probably planned for sometime soon.

Can English clubs really hope to compete in the Champions League? 3

Bayern Munich travelled to face their nearest rivals Dortmund yesterday and managed to win by a rather flattering scoreline of 3-0, they lead the table having racked up eleven wins and two draws already this season. Bayern haven’t lost a league game since October 2012 which is a sad indictment of their league at the moment even though two of their teams battled for the trophy in the Champions League final last season.

Barcelona next for AVB? 3

AVB still has much to do before he can be satisfied with his work in London and whilst employed by Tottenham, Champions League qualification and a trophy is the aim for this season and if successful then we shall just have to see where it takes us next. AVB has often spoken of his ambitions for the future and has been clear in that  remaining a football coach is not in his long term plans.

Real Madrid the “Adios” club. 14

With the Tottenham strategic partnership with Real Madrid under review it is clearly time to sever any tie up with this devious club, by doing so there can surely be no change in the order of things or lack of benefits when there were none, this association has brought nothing to the table for either club. the only benefit that Tottenham have derived from their dealings with Madrid in the last year has been the best part of £120m.

Barca bid for Vertonghen must be turned down. 2

With little over a week before the season starts surely it cannot be true that Barcelona have lodged a £23m bid for Jan Vertonghen, if true just why at this stage of the transfer window as surely they must have been aware of the need for additional defensive backup for months now bearing in mind Mascherano was drafted in to play at the back last season.

Will Barcelona try to poach AVB to replace Vilanova? 0

It seems that Barcelona are set to announce that their head coach Tito Vilanova is set to step down from his job, an unexpected press announcement has been called and the consensus of opinion is that the coach has decided that he is unable to continue due to ill health. Last year he was forced away from the job and travelled to the States for cancer treatment before returning before the end of the season to continue to lead the team.

Tottenham would do better to have a partnership with Barcelona. 0

Posted on May 28, 2013 by Tony

As a result of the discussions last summer with Real Madrid over the transfer of Luka Modric Tottenham eventually announced that the deal had been done and with it a partnership agreement with them. We have yet to see what this partnership actually entails as clearly so far there seems absolutely no benefit whatsoever for Tottenham. We expect to see perhaps Real Madrid become a regular friendly match opponent pre-season but no sign of this as yet!

The case against Real Madrid and Barcelona for Gareth Bale and others. 0

Posted on May 27, 2013 by Eddie S

With all the talk of Gareth Bale being pursued by Real Madrid and now Luis Suarez becoming another of their targets it is worth considering some of the purchases of both of Spain’s dominant clubs in recent times and just how they have fared.

Manager merry go round will ensure new Bale contract at Tottenham. 0

Great news from Old Trafford that “Fergie” has retired and that David Moyes has been appointed to replace him. With Gareth Bale winning so many plaudits as well as awards it has been suggested that one of the really wealthy clubs would snap him up, especially if top four is not achieved.

Fortunately for Tottenham this coming season is set to become a bit of a lottery for every major club around and especially those that could possibly afford a player of Bale’s ability. United have long been touted as a destination for Gareth Bale as the replacement for the last Welsh player of exceptional quality, Ryan Giggs, now that Ferguson has gone they begin a period of change and it remains to be seen whether Moyes can continue to bring success and whether Ferguson remaining in the background affects things for the new set up.

This is not the right time for Bale to go to Spain. He’s staying at Tottenham. 1

The events of the past couple of days must surely have convinced Gareth Bale and his advisers that Real Madrid and Barcelona are not now likely to provide him with the trophies he might crave nor the contented lifestyle a parent with a young family might desire.
