Tottenham know their man, Villa was a smokescreen. 0

Posted on July 09, 2013 by Tony

For weeks now we have been fed the line that David Villa has been AVB’s number one target, most supporters initial reaction was disbelief due to his age, almost 32 yrs, and a significant fee of somewhere in the region of £12m. That disbelief turned into acceptance that AVB knows exactly what he needs to transform the squad into title challengers and if Villa fits the criteria who are we to argue, it was then left to Daniel Levy to negotiate a reasonable fee.

Benteke long game makes no sense. 0

One or two newspapers have suggested that Daniel Levy and Tottenham will drag out the purchase of Benteke from Aston Villa until the last moments of the transfer window if necessary, for some reason the suggestion has been put  forward that this will enable them to buy the player far cheaper than the current valuation put forward by his club.

Has Benteke deal been agreed? 0

Most rumour and speculation relating to Benteke had dried up in recent days possibly because of all the international duty of the last couple of weeks, although that has not normally stopped reporters seeking headline grabbing recognition. The player and his agent were proficient in handing out comments regarding his future but all has now gone quiet.

Benteke to Tottenham off the agenda. 0

Christian Benteke has been the firm favourite of most Tottenham supporters to be targeted as the solution to the striking problem for this coming season, there has been talk of a Tottenham offer having been made of a large cash sum and Jermaine Defoe in exchange and this does not sit well with me. We hear all too often that a star player of a club has been targeted and that the offer is cash and player(s) and it is never true, there have been occasions when there have been player exchanges as part of a transfer but the selling club are the instigators of the enquiry for the makeweight, who then has to agree terms and make the final decision as to whether he is willing to be a part of the deal.

Any 2 will do for Tottenham. 3

As the days tick by every Tottenham supporter will be scouring the newspapers and internet for news of the strikers that they are trying to buy to make the difference and kickstart a period of success. We all have our own ideas on the forwards that best suit the squad and would excite the imagination, there are so many to choose from but now is the time for Tottenham to really make a statement to all the other teams and to really go for it by splashing out on a couple of really special talents.

Benteke too good for Tottenham but Agbonlahor wants him to stay at Villa! 0

Players say the weirdest things at times, Aston Villas Agbonlahor has gone on record talking of the fantastic talent that is Christian Benteke, he touts him as one of the finds of the season and a player that will reach the very top.

It is reported that Arsenal and Tottenham will try to acquire his services come the summer and maybe one or two others will throw their hat in the ring for him, Agbonlahor has today suggested that the player is actually too good for either club and should seek a bigger club to continue his career, in the next breath he hopes that he remains at Aston Villa.

Tottenham must go for Benteke this summer. 0

Come the summer and with, hopefully, Champions League football secured Tottenham will need to bring in at least one other striker and possibly two, Harry Kane will still not be ready to step up to the plate, he still needs regular games and perhaps another 6 months or so at Millwall to ensure regular playing opportunities

Benteke to Tottenham! 0

That has a nice ring to it as this player looks like he might become a bit special. Another Belgian appearing on the scene and threatening to become a very very good player.

The DM has suggested that he is a target for City, Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Tottenham, this alone probably suggests that it is a headline for effect, Tottenham need more firepower and City can afford anybody, but Liverpool have bought two forwards this season including Sturridge only a matter of days ago, as for Arsenal they have bought so many forwards of late and tied Walcott down to a contract with the promise of time as a centre forward, they have him, Giroud, Gervinho and a few more out on loan.
