It’s looking like Spurs will lose Bony to Liverpool. 0

Posted on July 30, 2014 by Eddie S

There have been lots of rumours linking Wilfred Bony to Tottenham over the past few weeks partially fueled by the player himself saying that he would only consider leaving Swansea for a top six club, sixth being the operative word. Tottenham have been linked to many a striker with Soldado misfiring so badly last season and Adebayor seemingly having an attitude problem with some coaches. Bony, Benteke and Lukaku are the names frequently mentioned but Benteke is still injured, and by now we all know that Tottenham and Chelsea are unlikely to do business in the foreseeable future unless it suits both parties.

Ben Davies signing imminent but who will be next? (video) 16

Well it seems that Ben Davies will soon be announced as our first signing of the Pochettino era no matter how long it might last, a good brand of football, decent results and a better haul of points from the current top four teams will certainly suffice for his first season, though a decent run in a cup competition or two with perhaps a bit of silverware at the end of it will have us all eating out of his hand. No matter what most Tottenham supporters will be thrilled that a new left back will soon arrive and one that will probably soon take over the role permanently. Though Pochettino went on record to suggest a quiet transfer window perhaps he was just throwing us a red herring

Battles on for Kalou again! 0

Every transfer window it seems that Lille are keen to ditch Salamon Kalou and he is desperate to return to London and so Arsenal and Tottenham are the ones set to battle it out for his services with both coaches anxious to secure his signature. A year back it was Wenger and AVB desperate to get him and in January Wenger and Sherwood. This one is now becoming a bit boring and to be honest though the French press seem to suggest that his strike rate is so exceptional as to call him a striker the reality is that 16 goals in 38 games at a top club in a poor league is not really so good and in no way constitutes Kalou being considered a striker in the true sense.

£32m for Lukaku! Chelsea having a laugh. 2

It has been reported that Chelsea have placed a £32m price tag on their unwanted Belgian for Romelu Lukaku, the same figure as was reported they are paying for Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid. With only two years left on his current contract and with another season of uncertainty ahead of him, loaned out to yet another club, the figure quoted seems  quite ridiculous for a player clearly not likely to figure in Mourinho’s plans for some time if ever.

To be perfectly honest there is not much to talk about which is an unusual turn of events at a time of the year when Tottenham are usually at their busiest and making many of the headlines. There has been more talk of Adam Lallana with David Bentley in the news again, fresh from announcing his retirement because he has fallen out of love with the game he is still happy to talk about it and give advice to players, this time suggesting that the Southampton man would be better off joining Liverpool rather than Tottenham because Tottenham have been in turmoil for a few years! Other than the one good season under Rodgers in which they won nothing take a look at their results in comparison to Tottenham over the last few years .

Soldado set to challenge RVP for the Golden Boot. 12

Last season Robin Van Persie won the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season but was pushed every step of the way by Luis Suarez, who missed  some of the season due to suspension as he will do again having six games still remaining of his ban, a little further behind was Gareth Bale with a remarkable twenty one goals for a player used as only the second striker.

This summer Manchester City, Swansea and Tottenham have each gone out and purchased a new centre forward at great expense, Negredo has gone to City, Bony to Swansea and Soldado to Tottenham, all have quickly found their form and the net for their respective clubs and each of them looks set for a good season.
