How are the squads shaping up? 1

Posted on July 30, 2016 by Scraggs

Well we at JTN have enjoyed a nice long break and tried to avoid the farcical transfer merry-go-round as much as possible without getting too involved. As we all know the press and general media whip up a storm with often ridiculous rumour as clubs go about re-shaping their squads for the coming season and now we shall attempt to put our spin on the situation in relation to the probable top clubs which now, rightly, includes Leicester with Tottenham now firmly established in that group.

The Premier League contenders 2016/17. 0

The 2015/16 season was absolutely nothing like many expected and whilst some argue that it was sub standard in quality it is mainly only those obsessed by huge transfer fees and wages, the opinion of the majority was that it was probably one of the best Premier League seasons ever with the hope and belief that the monopoly that has existed for far too long might just have been broken up for ever.

Where do the top 7 still need to strengthen before window closes. 12

With just a little over four days of this transfer window still remaining what do the top seven clubs still need to do to improve their squads? All of last seasons top seven will be hoping to improve and will be looking for players that they believe give them the best chance of  doing so. We at JTN did comment before the season got underway and you can see what we had to say then by following this link.  Having again read those comments though only a few games into the season in terms of league fixtures and cup competition it does look remarkably accurate so far.

The pressure is on Mourinho and it shows. 6

Yesterday JTN wrote of the ridiculous comments of Mourinho in relation to the importance of Chelsea to England, he referred to three players with the potential to become England regulars but omitted to mention it was unlikely to be until the World Cup after next, if at all. Chelsea don’t produce England internationals any longer, there are no more John Terrys coming through, they buy them. In fact Chelsea don’t produce any internationals, they might help develop a few by loaning out expensive purchases to other clubs before offloading them once their ambition finally kicks in and they want out.

Sandro to Chelsea. It’s the Metro comedy routine. 0

The Metro is now touting Sandro for a transfer to Chelsea having failed miserably with the Paulinho story a week or two back. With Chelsea and Mourinho prepared to make a take it or leave it £12m bid Daniel Levy must be roaring with laughter. When chelsea came calling with a £40m take it leave it offer for Luka Modric a few seasons back he told them precisely what they could do with their offer.

Make or break month for Tim Sherwood 3

Though I believe the decision has probably already been made to bring in a new high profile coach for the upcoming season and that Van Gaal is the preferred option, there must always remain the incentive for the current coaching team to win through, obviously the initial incentive was money with an eighteen month contract handed to Sherwood for a job likely to last just six months BUT the fact remains that if he can lead the club into the Champions League against all the odds then he deserves to lead the squad into the new season.

It’s time for Tottenham to step up. 0

Irrespective of the loss of Gareth Bale To Real Madrid all at Tottenham had high hopes for this season because of the investment made in quality players, though in hindsight there were probably too many acquisitions, nevertheless we should remember that we were only pipped for fourth spot by a single point last summer and with ten games still remaining we are just a solitary point worse off despite all the moans groans and apparent disasters that have befallen us.

Historic Tottenham photo, they say we have no history! eat your heart out Chelsea. 15

A very good friend of mine found this photo while going through the historical archives of Tottenham Hotspur, quite possibly one of the first photos ever taken of Tottenham supporters heading to see their team play and now it has found it’s way into my possession to share with our supporters. If anybody knows the names of the three or can suggest anything suitable please send in your suggestions. Along with this photo also see the video below of one of our early European adventures.

Is there anyone that you recognise in this photo?

Title chase-Little Horses, Chihuahas and then there’s those damn mosquitoes. 1

Mourinho has described Chelsea as the little horses in the title race up against the might of Manchester City, the mind games have begun as he tries to get under the skin of the City coach following their unexpected victory at the Etihad, his plan looked to be going very well as Chelsea hit the summit and they had the chance to extend that lead on Tuesday before City and Arsenal played on Wednesday.  Unfortunately West Bromwich had other ideas and put in a performance that eventually earned them a deserved point in their battle against relegation. Mourinho was rocked and hopefully will remain speechless for a while at least, his gloating interviews of late have begun to grate a little even though it is good to see him back in the Premier League.

Premiership prediction City v Chelsea 35

Posted on February 03, 2014 by Eddie S

Tonight the teams immediately behind the currently league leaders Arsenal meet at the Etihad, most everybody but the most ardent of Arsenal and Chelsea supporters make City the firm favourites for the title probably because they are so fluent and are outscoring the opposition so dramatically. A win for City will see them lead the table by the end of the game and will ensure a gap to Mourinho’s Chelsea for the top two.
