Yet another story emanating from the press and in particular Danish newspaper BT, news has reached these shores that Tottenham will be tempted into selling Christian Eriksen in the summer transfer window, if not before, and yet again it is suggested that PSG will be the lucky recipients. This is not the first time that this particular media outlet has pushed the PSG line, they did so when Eriksen agreed to join Tottenham in the summer of 2013.

The new Spurs “They wanted a fight, we gave them a fight and a bit more.” 0

Speaking to the media after yesterdays third victory in just three glorious days Christian Eriksen informed us that the squad now seem to believe that they understand and are beginning to play in the manner that Mauricio Pochettino demands. Considering that the players only came together in the middle of July, new additions and those involved in the World Cup much later, it has taken only twenty weeks to get to where we currently are.

Christian Eriksen proving to be the bargain of 2013. 0

As things currently stand the £11m Tottenham paid in August 2013 for the services of Christian Eriksen is looking to be a real bargain, another up there with the likes of Modric, Berbatov and Bale, already he has proved himself capable of cutting it in the Premier League and we already know from his time at Ajax that European Cup games present no problems for him as he was instrumental in the demise of Manchester United a few years ago. This calendar year he is the highest scoring midfielder in the league, excluding penalty takers, with a dozen goals already and that is one ahead of £37m man Juan Mata, two ahead of Yaya Toure who is vital to freescoring Manchester City the current champions of the league. He has three goals more than the current Liverpool wonderkid Raheem Sterling.

Ozil, Eriksen comparisons still wrankle with Arsenal fans 4

Tottenham supporters have been more than complimentary about the performances and contibutions of Christian Eriksen since he secured a starting berth in Tim Sherwood’s team and rightly so, whether stating from the left or just behind a lone striker Eriksen seems to have found his feet and is providing goals, assists and creating lots of chances. As a result of Eriksens surge in form at the same time that Arsenal’s Ozil is finding things a little more difficult after his explosive start, some of the media has begun to question Ozil’s price tag compared to Eriksen’s, as we all know Tottenham picked Eriksen up from Ajax for around about a quarter of the fee Arsenal paid for the German maestro as a result it is probably fair to compare which club got the better deal.

Will Eriksen injury open the door for Erik Lamela? 0

The picture of Christian Eriksen being helped from the field in his countries 2-1 friendly win yesterday could not have done much for AVB’s plans. Eriksen returned to the team against Newcastle and on first reflection his game appeared below par, the reality actually was that apart from his poor dead ball delivery the remainder of his game was actually very good. With Eriksen due to receive an ankle scan before the injury can be properly diagnosed the thoughts from his national coach suggest an absence of between four and six weeks. Christmas or early in the New Year would seem to be the earliest that Eriksen will return which is perhaps not so bad as the FA Cup begins as well as the knockout stages of the Europa League. Hopefully Tottenham will still be involved in the Capital One Cup as well if West Ham are defeated in the quarter finals and progression maintained. AVB still has the option of slotting Lewis Holtby into the playmaker role or perhaps Gylfi Sigurdsson might be moved back across to his more natural position in the centre and we know that he has a goal or two in his armoury. In certain circumstances AVB might feel that the time is right to give another of the record purchases his opportunity to shine. Erik Lamela was superb in his last outing against a decent Sheriff team,

Following his very impressive debut for Tottenham on Saturday Christian Eriksen has been much in demand and has been only too pleased to speak to the media on any subject. Obviously one of the major talking points has been the comparison between himself and Ozil who joined the other North London outfit within a day or so of him signing for Tottenham. Of course Christian Eriksen was courteous when comparing himself with Mesut Ozil stating that he thinks that Ozil has achieved a little more than him.

London team of the week features seven Tottenham players, Chelsea None! 0

Take a look at the Evening Standard London team of the week and you will be surprisedLondon-team-of-week perhaps to see only seven Tottenham players chosen. Most everybody who was at White Hart Lane on Saturday or watched the game on TV gave the Man of the Match accolade to a certain Danish player making his debut, Christian Eriksen, and yet his name is nowhere to be seen. I don’t suppose anybody would argue that Ozil put in a great performance on his debut and deserved his spot but surely there should have been a place for Eriksen somewhere. On any other day perhaps the entire midfield three of Tottenham would have been chosen given the performance that they gave as a group.
No Chelsea players in there, which is a huge surprise, and so we must assume that Jose “the best team lost” Mourinho himself was not on the panel.
To be honest Tottenham put together almost the complete performance and Lloris was a spectator for most of the game. Carry on like this and perhaps even the Arsenal and Chelsea fans might realise that Tottenham are genuine contenders, and not just for top London club.

Eriksen shines for Tottenham in comfortable win. 13

It is still early in the development of thisTottenham team as they begin the process of incorporating all the new pieces assembled at a cost of £104 m, today was the turn of Norwich to try to prevent Tottenham scoring in open play for the fourth time this season.

Only three of the new boys started the match today as a late injury to Nacer Chadli meant he was unable to start on the left, this gave an opportunity for Gylfi Sigurdsson to exploit and he certainly did that with a two goal haul, the first a little reminiscent of the immaculate touch and immediate strike from Gareth Bale against Swansea last season.

AVB looks ahead to a bright Tottenham future. 0

Yesterday AVB and Tottenham finally moved on from the summer outgoing of the Welsh Wizard as instead he spoke of the wonderful players brought  to Tottenham this summer, special talents like Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are spoken of in glowing terms and are players he believes will develop into world class in the near future. Interestingly he is of the opinion that Tottenham and Manchester City were the most impressive and the more successful in improving their squads, at least of the top seven clubs, while also implying that Ozil was expensive and similar to a number of other players Arsenal already have.
