The reaction to the outrageous Lamela goal on Thursday is still being talked about across the world, there have been millions that have viewed the Vine or Youtube footage of the “Rabona”, even those in the media that seem to have  a grudge against Tottenham and those that have not been particularly generous in their assessment of Lamela, have all spoken with total admiration of a piece of skill that lit up White Hart Lane and football in general.

Kane is capable of becoming Spurs greatest homegrown goalscorer. 4

The clamour for Harry Kane to be given a chance and a starting berth in the Tottenham lineup in Premier League fixtures is growing with every appearance he makes, last night he carried on scoring goals, three of them, in another Europa League victory to follow up his goal in the Capital One Cup. That’s now seven goals this season in just 10 appearances for Tottenham to go along with the other goals he has scored for the England U21 team that has won through to the European Championships next summer.

Tottenham have been linked with another exciting forward in recent days, Saido Berahino of WBA  has been hailed as the best goalscoring English forward in the country and a potential Tottenham target in January, though most of his goals have come during league fixtures he has the same number, 7 in just 10 games as Harry Kane.

Lamela shows he’s no flop with wonder goal. (video) 4

His first year in London was disppointing to say the least, after Tottenham invested a huge some of money on a young prodigy the knives were soon out and he was declared a flop almost immediately. Erik Lamela at just 21 years of age became one of the clubs most expensive signings, with add-ons, if conditions are achieved, he will be the record signing. Harshly he was written off despite his inexperience, inability to speak the language and due to the fact that he was just setting out on a new career in 3rd  country within just a couple of years, some forget that at such a tender age he had only just broken into the River Plate team when he was snapped up and whisked off to Italy, a little over a year later and he headed to the Premier League.

It is probably fair to say that a huge percentage of Tottenham supporters have remained convinced that Lamela is a tremendous talent with the potential to become a great player, speed of thought and of feet is only surpassed by the very best players in Europe, we know he is far from being the finished article but age and inexperience  is all that is holding him back at the moment, for now he seems to be enjoying his football and more importantly working hard for the team.

Is Jamie Redknapp fit to give opinion on football matters? 12

Just like last year and the year before that the media are on the back of Tottenham, again it’s the same old ringleaders, you know the ones, those with a grudge against Tottenham. Ex-Arsenal and Liverpool players that have infiltrated every football channel and show on TV and the football pages of almost all newspapers. On a daily basis some so called expert or other jumps on the bandwagon in an effort to destabilise the supporters of Tottenham,

Loan attempts for “flop” Lamela have gone away. 8

Forty-five minutes football in far off Canada last Wednesday  finally put to bed all the stories of Italian interest in the services of Erik Lamela, until then he had been branded an expensive flop by all sections of the media and many of the richest clubs in Italy circled in the hope of picking up a bargain on loan with a view to buying at a knockdown price if a success. One half of excellent football in a friendly against a decent MLS club does not a star make, but to every Tottenham supporter he represents hope and expectation.

Time to trust Lamela not loan him? 8

Tim Sherwood is already facing a dilemma, especially at White Hart Lane, as he is no nearer to finding a way of breaking down teams that visit and set themselves up to strangle all attacking intent, teams prepared to sit back and absorb anything we can throw at them and then hit us on the break. The current personnel and set up is also prone to fall apart, it offers far too many opportunities to the opposing team and exposes our back four far too much.

Lamela set for Spain next month! 0

One of today’s rumours centres around Erik Lamela, apparently Atletico Madrid are keen to take him on loan for the rest of the season and AVB is apparently prepared to authorise such a move as he believes that it might help in the future, the suggestion is that the player has had a nightmare start to his time at Tottenham following his expensive move! Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t it AVB who just a few days ago stated that Lamela simply needed time to settle and acclimatise to London life before the Tottenham fans would see the best of him?

Will Eriksen injury open the door for Erik Lamela? 0

The picture of Christian Eriksen being helped from the field in his countries 2-1 friendly win yesterday could not have done much for AVB’s plans. Eriksen returned to the team against Newcastle and on first reflection his game appeared below par, the reality actually was that apart from his poor dead ball delivery the remainder of his game was actually very good. With Eriksen due to receive an ankle scan before the injury can be properly diagnosed the thoughts from his national coach suggest an absence of between four and six weeks. Christmas or early in the New Year would seem to be the earliest that Eriksen will return which is perhaps not so bad as the FA Cup begins as well as the knockout stages of the Europa League. Hopefully Tottenham will still be involved in the Capital One Cup as well if West Ham are defeated in the quarter finals and progression maintained. AVB still has the option of slotting Lewis Holtby into the playmaker role or perhaps Gylfi Sigurdsson might be moved back across to his more natural position in the centre and we know that he has a goal or two in his armoury. In certain circumstances AVB might feel that the time is right to give another of the record purchases his opportunity to shine. Erik Lamela was superb in his last outing against a decent Sheriff team,

No room for Dempsey back at Tottenham. 10

The papers are full of the news that Tottenham have first option on Clint Dempsey should he return to the Premiership on loan this winter, having sold him just a little over three months ago does anybody else find it strange that there might be a fight over his services for just six weeks in the middle of a season. Tottenham have an enormous squad all battling to earn enough playing time to impress the coach so why exactly would they be considering an enormous outlay in wages and fee for a short term fix.

Krul luck for Tottenham as goal woes continue. 14

Another defeat and possibly another situation when AVB has been swayed by the media to change his lineup. Brad Friedel was called into the team to start his first game of the season while Gomes was his deputy on the bench, even though Lloris had been declared fit days ago and had said that he was ready to play. Lloris is the ultimate sweeper keeper and had he been out there it is very likely that he would have been far sharper from his line and cleared the Remy danger before it had a chance to happen. the same thing happened against West Ham when Defoe was brought into the lineup and the rest is history.
