More media mischief making for Spurs. 0

Even before the season began the media began their misguided attempts to destabilise Tottenham with their captain and arguably the best keeper in the league supposedly certain to head off to Old Trafford. As we all know that failed to come to fruition and not just because United and Madrid acted like two bob outfits in failing to complete a last minute deal for De Gea.

Tottenham are starting to worry the “big 5” 6

Not since the opening day of the season have Tottenham suffered a league defeat and even then all but the most biased Manchester United supporter would agree that a point or perhaps all three would not have flattered the youthful Tottenham team. Since then Mauricio Pochettino has overseen his team to five wins and five draws and performances that perhaps should have garnered even more points and a far higher league position.

Paul Merson, who we know is one of the most biased pundits, has very recently lauded the true North London club and only a couple of weeks back admitted that their performances deserved a higher position in the league.

It has to be Berahino. 0

There is little doubt that Tottenham need to add another attacker to the equation before the transfer window slams shut this summer, there have been links to players in the French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, German and  even the Belgian leagues but since a tentative link to Danny Ings, before he plumped for Liverpool and a passing, very unlikely, interest in Christian Benteke there has been no link to any forward currently plying their trade in the premiership.

The Player of the Year, from London, is…. 2

almost certainly going to be one of just three players and they all play for clubs based in London. Surely by now it must be clear that the three most consistent and best performing players in the Premier League are Eden Hazard of Chelsea, Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal and the player of the moment and by a street the most improved and unlikely of stars Harry Kane.

There will undoubtedly be clamours for the Liverpool pair of Sterling and Coutinho, perhaps even Henderson, Toure, Silva and Aguero will come into the reckoning of City, Rooney and De Gea as usual of United, but beyond that collection I can’t think of another possible candidate and to be honest they are also-rans in this years competition.

And now your gonna believe us. 2

No matter what happens during the remainder of this season there can surely no longer be any remaining doubts that Mauricio Pochettino and his staff were inspired appointments after the reign of Tim Sherwood. In less than six months he has turned form on it’s head and has transformed this group of Tottenham players into a mean, lean battling machine with the pace and stamina to upset any team, of course it’s no good without players of great technical ability, quality and class, luckily he has plenty of them in the squad.

Is it Klinsmann? is it Shearer? No it’s Harry Kane! 3

Over the past week or so 21 year old Harry Kane has really burst onto the football scene, in terms of goals only the Manchester City magician Aguero has scored more, Kane has now racked up 17 in all competitions so far this season and at the moment looks almost unplayable as he is also chipping in with assists along the way and works incredibly hard for the team. Before yesterdays game the only criticism I saw about him was that he only seems to score goals singly, though he did hit a hat-trick in Europe, so he tore into chelsea, scored two amazing goals, might have had more, and provided two assists.

Harry Kane-He’s one of a kind. 0

Tottenham supporters already sing proudly that Harry Kane is one of theirs, a player that has come up through the ranks and is establishing himself in the team on a regular basis. Tottenham have over the years produced some exceptionally talented players, players like Steve Perryman, Glenn Hoddle, Ledley King and Sol Campbell amongst others, now Harry Kane seems intent on adding his name to that illustrious list.

Last nights win at Aston Villa did not come easy, a poor goal conceded heaped bundles of pressure onto the team and though they had more than enough chances to ease that pressure our misfiring forwards failed to take their opportunities when they came. Soldado had a sharp chance to open the scoring only to flash a header wide while Adebayor spurned a couple of one on ones with the keeper, even our captain, who was struggling to contain Christian Benteke, fluffed the chance to equalise with a scuffed shot in front of goal. While many of our expensively assembled team struggled to impose their will on Villa Ryan Mason was going about his work with gusto, many with more than a passing knowledge of football recognised that he was really our MOTM over the 90 minutes.

Pochettino should not be swayed by supporters demands. 0

There is a groundswell of opinion that Harry Kane should be starting for Tottenham on a more regular basis, the fans and the media have been banging on about it for some time off the back of a decent run of goals scored this season. It is fair to say that Kane is progressing well and is beginning to score all types of goals, powerful efforts off both feet, tap-ins and headers have all featured in recent weeks, we want and need goals to achieve our aims  this season but it is unfair to heap so much pressure on a 21 year old and a new coach to pick him.

Look at the goals and the teams that Kane has scored against and you will realise that they have, without exception, come against teams that would all struggle to live in the premiership and because of that Pochettino has to continue to carefully manage Kane and the games he is asked to feature in.

Kane is capable of becoming Spurs greatest homegrown goalscorer. 4

The clamour for Harry Kane to be given a chance and a starting berth in the Tottenham lineup in Premier League fixtures is growing with every appearance he makes, last night he carried on scoring goals, three of them, in another Europa League victory to follow up his goal in the Capital One Cup. That’s now seven goals this season in just 10 appearances for Tottenham to go along with the other goals he has scored for the England U21 team that has won through to the European Championships next summer.

Tottenham have been linked with another exciting forward in recent days, Saido Berahino of WBA  has been hailed as the best goalscoring English forward in the country and a potential Tottenham target in January, though most of his goals have come during league fixtures he has the same number, 7 in just 10 games as Harry Kane.
