Who really is ready to play for Tottenham this weekend.? 0

All  the comments coming out of White Hart Lane recently are positive in relation to the fitness and availability of the three injured players. It seems that Jermain Defoe is ready having trained with the team all week, the only question remains is whether he is likely to start the game and that remains unlikely, he will though be available to bring on later in the game.

Tottenham fans hoping no news is good news on Bale and Lennon. 0

With just five days left until Tottenham face Manchester City in a home fixture they would hope to win it will be a major boost if there was an announcement that Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and even Jermain Defoe had in fact recovered from their injuries.

Time is ticking and apart from mention of methods being used to aid recovery there is very little coming out of White Hart Lane on the players progress, from past experience this does not bode well for any of the players ability to take part in this vital fixture. I am sure we can all remember that there have been many occasions when essential players have been rushed back only to breakdown again after just a short time on the pitch, or, there is an announcement just before kick off that the player cannot be risked and has fallen short in the race for fitness.

Defoe out for 3 games shouldn’t be a problem. 0

It has recently been reported that Jermain Defoe will miss the next three games which includes 2 Europa ties against Basel and a League game at home to Everton, now whilst it is always good to be able to call upon all your main strikers when the need arises this news does not really cause undue horror or concern. Clint Dempsey is once again fully fit and should be ready to fire on all cylinders as and when the need arises, Adebayor whilst still not producing the goals needed still has a couple more than Defoe since the turn of the year and in truth is not playing badly, he continues to work extremely hard for the good of the team.

Adebayor bad press is unwarranted. 4

Having watched the game on Sunday and MOD2 the bad press coming Adebayors way is, in my opinion, unwarranted, true he has failed to hit the heights of last season but quite apart from his injury problems he has also had to contend with a different style of play and the loss of Van de Vaart who suited his style brilliantly.

Jermain Defoe is back but should he start against Arsenal? 6

At last the news that we have been waiting for as AVB has confirmed that our other experienced out and out striker Jermain Defoe is back in training and in contention for the match against Arsenal. Following on from the report that Clint Dempsey will be unavailable for a couple of weeks it is very welcome news and Tottenham have been vindicated/been extremely lucky by not adding a striker to the ranks during the last transfer window.

Jonathan Obika sent out on loan, Defoe must be fit again. 0

Today we learn that Jonathan Obika another of the young Tottenham strikers has been sent on loan to Charlton, following swiftly on from Harry Kanes departure to Leicester it must mean that Jermain Defoe is fit to resume duties or very close to it.

With time still available in this window it was not necessary to make the decision on either forward just yet, but having done so surely it is because a full compliment of strikers ( Adebayor and Defoe) backed up by Clint Dempsey are again fit and raring to go. I would not be at all surprised to see Tottenham line up in a 4 4 2 formation against West Ham on monday evening, if not then, certainly for the home fixture against Arsenal.

Defoe signs up for another 3 years.Goals guaranteed. 0

Villas-Boas stated some time back that Jermain Defoe was one of his chosen few as a forward for the coming season and he has been true to his word and Defoe has been  in the starting lineup in both games so far, admittedly Adebayor signed less than 48hrs before the last game. JD has responded by hitting the back of the net in all 3 games he has played,  which includes one for England, although in the WBA game it was disallowed of course.

Will JD still be a Tottenham player come the 1st September? 0

Villas-Boas has been quoted as saying that Jermain Defoe remains part of his plans and will have plenty of playing time this coming season and this might well be true,  but, Adebayor has now signed and will again be the main man in a one up front with 3 supporting attacking midfielders.

Where does this leave Defoe?  he certainly could be an important member of the squad as was shown last season when used mainly as an impact player from the bench, he certainly still got his fair share of goals, there will be occasions when Tottenham might have to revert to the 4 4 2 and he fits that system played alongside a target man better than most. Tottenham will  hopefully this season treat the Carling Cup and UEFA Cup more seriously and therefore offer more game time.
