Tottenham youngsters lift the team. 5

Posted on November 03, 2014 by Scraggs

Last nights win at Aston Villa did not come easy, a poor goal conceded heaped bundles of pressure onto the team and though they had more than enough chances to ease that pressure our misfiring forwards failed to take their opportunities when they came. Soldado had a sharp chance to open the scoring only to flash a header wide while Adebayor spurned a couple of one on ones with the keeper, even our captain, who was struggling to contain Christian Benteke, fluffed the chance to equalise with a scuffed shot in front of goal. While many of our expensively assembled team struggled to impose their will on Villa Ryan Mason was going about his work with gusto, many with more than a passing knowledge of football recognised that he was really our MOTM over the 90 minutes.

Latest Tottenham News and it’s not all good. 0

It can’t have come as any surprise to any Tottenham supporter that the word from the club is that Kyle Walker is struggling to be fit for the season opener, I would go as far as to suggest that with one half of football in pre-season while on tour to North America when he was a mile of the pace it will be a while before we see him in the team. It’s still the niggling pelvic injury that kept him out of the Tottenham team from March and meant he missed out on his World Cup dream.

Where’s Walker? 4

We have all seen the official pictures coming out of Tottenham and the daily training gallery but I cannot recall seeing or hearing anything related to our flying England right back Kyle Walker. We know that he was not considered fit enough to travel to the World Cup due to a pelvic injury suffered that ruled him out of the run in to last season,  since then and now that the players not on international duty have returned to meet the new coaching team and prepare for a big season there has as yet been no sightings of our speedster.

Today’s Tottenham transfer talk analysed. 7

Posted on January 09, 2014 by Random Spurs Supporter

A little overweek into the January transfer window and most of the talk has been of Tottenham departures, today the list has grown yet again so let’s take a look at what is being said and give our honest opinion on those rumours;

Will Tom Carroll’s return spell the end for Lewis Holtby? 2

Posted on January 02, 2014 by Random Spurs Supporter

There has been increasing talk of a return to the German Bundesliga for Lewis Holtby as Schalke in particular seek midfield reinforcements this winter. With the news that Tottenham have refused permission to QPR for Tom Carroll to play in this weekends FA Cup fixture while allowing for Assou-Ekotto to play, the suggestion is that Tim Sherwood could be considering withdrawing him from his loan spell at the halfway point.

I don’t get the anti Walker brigade. 8

Jamie Redknapp and Twitter had very little good to say about Kyle Walker’s performance last night and yet once again he kept his opposite numbers in check and still found time to maraude forward and cause the German defence some problems. I cannot recall a single occasion this season when he has been given the runaround and rarely has he been caught out defensively or been at fault for a goal despite being the most used outfield player at Tottenham this season.

Townsend nails down England right wing spot. 0

If England need a player to excite and terrify opposition defences then their man is Andros Townsend, yet again he donned the england shirt and took the fight to the opposition at every opportunity and to back him up and run past him and add his own brand of pace was Kyle Walker. Every time that they play down the right in the England team and for Tottenham then so does their understanding and ability to break down the opposition improve. With more than ten years at the top and their best years some way ahead of them England might just have the a wonderful partnership blooming.

Has Harry Kane’s time arrived? 3

Posted on November 01, 2013 by Guest Writer

Most Tottenham supporters believed that Harry Kane was lined up to join Harry Redknapp at QPR on a seasons loan along with Tom Carroll, the hope being that both players might return to Tottenham ready to continue the revolution started by AVB, might these two join the likes of Walker, Caulker, Rose and Townsend with such effect.

Because of question marks over Emanuel Adebayor and some fitness issues with Jermain Defoe the move failed to happen and Kane has since managed to get a few minutes of game time with the first team. Kane has quickly progressed into the England U21 ranks and is now scoring goals at youth international level more regularly, including a recent hat-trick.

Should Walker and Townsend be the England choices? 0

England take on Montenegro tonight in what is a crucial fixture along the road to Brazil, any slip up and any one of three countries could take advantage of the slender lead England have earned, including tonight’s visitors to Wembley. After tonight it is the turn of Poland who visit on Tuesday and are another who could turn the table on it’s head. Unfortunately I have to admit that I was in the crowd all those years ago when “The Clown” so named by Brian Clough was in inspired form and was very instrumental in preventing England’s involvement in the World cup in 1974,  “Clough trod on my honour,” says Tomaszewski. “But what he said gave me extra verve and energy.” On that occasion England did not take part in the world cup in Germany and that came as a major shock to English football.

Is Andros Townsend ready to challenge for Walcott’s England spot. 2

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Tony

The surprise news of the day is the call up of Andros Townsend to the full England squad after just two first team appearances to date. Roy Hodgson was at the Tottenham v Swansea match on Sunday and must have been as impressed as the rest of us with his performance. Of course he has not been chosen simply off the back of his last couple of matches but his brief appearance in a QPR shirt towards the end of last season obviously also caught his eye.
