Spurs youngsters impress on International duty. 1

Posted on September 10, 2014 by Eddie S

A good number of Tottenham’s youngsters have performed for their countries during this break in the premiership season and most have done extremely well, Eric Lamela led the way with a superb goal on his return to international duty for Argentina as the replacement for Lionel Messi, a resounding 4-2 victory over the newly crowned World Champions Germany, that was his only outing and that gave him the opportunity to rest up a little before returning to training a little earlier than most.

Christian Eriksen earned his 47th cap aged just 22 yrs a quite remarkable number so early in his career, he admitted that it wasn’t one of his best as he felt he lacked sharpness but the result, a win and 3 points was all important and he returns to his club fit and well.

Just when things begin to quieten down and start to take shape the media come up with ridiculous rumours solely designed to catch attention. Clearly all the recent talk coming from Jan Vertonghen is related to signing a new Tottenham deal with any potential move to Barcelona either a figment of imagination or simply an agents tool to secure a new deal.  Similarly Erik Lamela had an excellent tour to America and Canada and has clearly finally settled and is working toward finding his best form with his fellow countryman in charge guiding him and the squad.

Liverpool are going the route of Tottenham last year. 49

Liverpool and Sky seem to be rolling out all the old names from Liverpools past in some sort of effort to convince everybody that they are not going to fall into the same trap as Tottenham of a year ago, Brendan Rodgers they assure us is a master when it comes to buying players and unlike Tottenham will easily cope with the loss of Suarez and challenge for the title. I agree that he has acquired a few players with premier league experience and that it will help considerably but there are other problems to overcome and at the moment Liverpool look like that will buy even more than the seven of Tottenham.

No logic to players linked to Poch. 2

Even before the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino the journo’s were going crazy with Tottenham transfer talk and now it is stepping up a gear with four or five potential purchases from his old club Southampton on the cards, the reality is that only two really make any sense, Shaw being an obvious requirement at left back for years to come and Lovren as a replacement for Younes Kaboul who we assume will be allowed to leave due to injury issues.

It’s time for Tottenham to step up. 0

Irrespective of the loss of Gareth Bale To Real Madrid all at Tottenham had high hopes for this season because of the investment made in quality players, though in hindsight there were probably too many acquisitions, nevertheless we should remember that we were only pipped for fourth spot by a single point last summer and with ten games still remaining we are just a solitary point worse off despite all the moans groans and apparent disasters that have befallen us.

Yet another player looking for Tottenham exit 2

Posted on January 15, 2014 by Eddie S

Reports are continuing to grow that yet another of Tottenham’s recent recruits is seeking a way out as Nacer Chadli’s agent Daniel Evrard is another who has confirmed that his client fears for his place in Belgium’s World Cup squad. He said: “Nacer  has had to play in a role which doesn’t suit him. They wanted him to play on the left wing and he is not exactly a winger – he prefers to play through the middle. It’s very difficult for him because we’ve not seen the best of him at Tottenham. He has big potential so he is a little bit frustrated.”

Why are so many players looking for the exit at Tottenham. 6

It is hard to pick up a paper or view a sports report without seeing a variety of Tottenham players looking for a way out, the likelihood today and a rumour that is growing relates to Lewis Holtby who is apparently on the wishlist of no less than three German clubs. The general consensus of opinion amongst Tottenham fans is that selling Holtby would be disappointing as they see a player with heart, ability and a will to win. In the short time he has been with the club he has a very decent assist record, scored a couple of cracking goals and has a passing accuracy in his time of 82%, as well as that he creates chances at the rate of almost two per game, all of that despite never having a decent run in the team and being asked to play in a variety of positions.

Today’s Tottenham transfer talk analysed. 7

A little overweek into the January transfer window and most of the talk has been of Tottenham departures, today the list has grown yet again so let’s take a look at what is being said and give our honest opinion on those rumours;

Tottenham latest for 2014. 6

The New Year has only just begun but what have we already learned?

Judging from early reports perhaps the expected arrival of a new left back is not the obvious addition to the squad during this transfer window. There is little doubt that Danny Rose has been a massive loss for more than three months, if he has not yet firmly established his place in the starting lineup then he is surely very close to doing so and it seems that Zeki Fryers might yet be the one to be his back up. Tottenham have for too long had to rely upon Jan Vertonghen to step in and cover for Rose with the result being that our best central defender has been sacrificed. There have been numerous rumours surrounding a replacement for Rose  rather than back up which is really rather surprising. Where once another left back was a possibility Tim Sherwood seems set to put his trust in Fryers if the need arises.

Tottenham review v Stoke. 1

a 3-0 win is always an acceptable result but sometimes team selection, team and individual performances are all far more important, yesterday Tim Sherwood got far more right than wrong although it must of course be viewed in the context of it only being a Stoke team shorn of many of their first choice players. Of course you can only beat what is put in front of you and the Stoke team chosen did their utmost to make it a difficult game.
